Mike Tyson Acknowledges Third Wife Lakiha Spicer, for Weaning Him off Drugs, Says if Not for Her He Would Be a “Savage Animal”

Lakiha Spicer, also known as Kiki Tyson, is the third wife of boxing legend Mike Tyson. She has played a significant role in Tyson’s life, especially during his struggles with addiction.

Mike Tyson‘s wife, Lakiha Spicer, is an author and entrepreneur who owns a clothing boutique. She also co-wrote Tyson’s one-man show, “Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth,” which premiered in 2012 and won two awards.

Born on June 11, 1977, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lakiha comes from a family deeply rooted in the Muslim community.

Her father, Shamsud-din Ali, was a prominent Muslim cleric and boxing enthusiast. That is how Lakiha first met Tyson at 18 during one of his boxing matches when Tyson was married to his second wife, Monica Spencer.

Their relationship had a rocky start and was “on-and-off” in the early 2000s. Likewise, Tyson’s manager, Don King, warned the boxer to stay away from Lakiha and her family.

If you ask why, the manager asked him to cut contact with Lakiha because he believed that her family, particularly her father, was not someone Tyson should get involved with. His exact words were

Stay away from her. Don’t go talking to that girl. Leave these people alone. These are not the people to mess with

Despite a rocky start, their relationship took off after Tyson divorced Spencer in 2003.

The couple stood the test of time again when Lakiha was sent to prison a week before she discovered she was pregnant.

Regardless, as cliched as it sounds, Tyson and Lakiha’s bond grew nothing stronger over time, and they eventually married on June 9, 2009.

This marriage marked Tyson’s third and longest-lasting marriage, i.e., over a decade of companionship.

The married couple of 16 years, Tyson and Lakiha, share two children, Milan and Morocco Tyson.

Despite Tyson’s prominence, Lakiha prefers to keep a low profile and is rarely seen in public unless with her husband.

Mike Tyson Credits His Third Wife, Lakiha Spicer, For Her Influence in Helping Him Overcome Drug Use, Calling Her His Lifesaver!

Tyson has been vocal about his struggles with addiction and his life after giving up cocaine and alcohol.

Spicer encountered legal problems when she was sentenced to six months in prison in 2008 for fraud and conspiracy.

She was implicated in a case involving her father’s company, which paid her $78,000 for teaching classes at a local school. Later, she was also ordered to pay $30,000 in restitution.

When Lakiha came out of prison 15 years ago, Tyson was deep into a drug addiction in which he would regularly consume cocaine and alcohol.

Tyson attributes Spicer for saving his life after going through a dark period early in their 15-year marriage. The boxing legend expressed his grateful feelings for having met her, saying:

I’m very happy me and my wife got together because I don’t know how I would have survived out there.

While she may not have single-handedly weaned him off drugs, her support has been crucial in his journey towards sobriety.

In addition, Tyson has often spoken about her positive influence in his life, which has helped him transform from a troubled individual to a more family-oriented man.
