Sydney’s influence extended far beyond her athletic achievements. Her joy for the game came from a deep well of faith and positivity, which she shared generously with her teammates and coaches.
Born to parents Robert and Kerri Barnes, Sydney grew up in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, where she attended Greencastle-Antrim High School.

There, she was a multi-sport athlete, lettering in golf, soccer, softball, and basketball, showcasing her versatility and competitive spirit.
But it was her warmth and kindness that left a lasting impression on those who knew her.
As an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, she lived her values with authenticity and grace.
Her commitment to her studies was equally impressive; she was named a Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete, balancing academic excellence with her athletic pursuits.
Sydney’s vibrant personality made her a friend to everyone she met.
Whether she was hiking, kayaking, swimming, or spending time with her beloved dog, Oliver, Sydney embraced life with enthusiasm.
She loved hanging out with her friends, sharing laughs, and creating memories that will now be cherished forever.
Her kindness touched even those who knew her in a passing way. Wendy Li Yuen-Ting, who works in dining at Millersville, shared a heartfelt memory:
