Andrew Van Ginkel, linebacker for the Vikings, has been married to his wife, Samantha Van Ginkel, since February 2020.
Van Ginkel, born on July 1, 1995, in Rock Valley, Iowa, embarked on his football journey at Rock Valley Community High School.
Initially playing as a Nighthawk quarterback, he transitioned to linebacker when he started college at the University of South Dakota.
After a brief stint, he transferred to Iowa Western Community College due to a coaching change.
He later joined the University of Wisconsin, where he honed his skills as a linebacker and caught the attention of NFL scouts.
Drafted by the Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, his early career was briefly interrupted by an injury that placed him on injured reserve in September 2019.
He made a significant impact upon his return, notably recovering a fumble against the Rams and returning it for a 78-yard touchdown, marking one of the longest in Dolphins’ history.
His defensive prowess was further demonstrated in Week 11 against the Broncos, where he forced a crucial fumble at the goal line.
Van Ginkel re-signed with the Dolphins in 2023 but was placed on injured reserve again in January 2024, ending his tenure with the team.
He then joined the Vikings on March 13, 2024, quickly making his mark by recording a sack and an interception in his debut, achieving a rare feat for a Vikings player.
In Week 5 against the Jets in London, he recorded his third career pick-six, intercepting Aaron Rodgers and returning it 63 yards for a touchdown.
As of 2024, he continues to make his mark with the Vikings, demonstrating his defensive prowess and contributing significantly to the team’s success.

Now, after more than five years of marriage, their relationship continues to grow stronger with each passing year.
Samantha Van Ginkel spent her early childhood in Rock Valley, growing up alongside her sister, Kilee.
She spent her early years in this tight-knit community, building the foundation for her strong work ethic and passion for helping others.
For her education, Samantha attended Southern New Hampshire University.
Her academic journey complemented her diverse professional and volunteer experiences.
She began her career in January 2008 at Rolling V Ranch in Rock Valley, Iowa, where she worked for over seven years, gaining experience in training horses and managing ranch operations.
In March 2016, she joined Per Mar Security Services in Omaha, Nebraska, as a Licensed Security Guard, performing safety checks and security inspections until August 2016.
Later, in August 2016, she became a Security Officer Supervisor at Securitas Security Services, overseeing security operations at ConAgra Foods Corporate Campus until December 2016.
Samantha balanced dual roles in 2017, working as an Early Childhood Teacher at Play Haven Child Care from March to October while continuing her security position at Per Mar Security Services until April 2018.
From March to May 2018, she worked as a Front Desk Coordinator at Oasis Spa & Salon, handling client bookings and preparing to become a licensed aesthetician.
She later joined European Wax Center in September 2018 as a Waxing Specialist, providing services in Madison, Wisconsin, until December 2018.
Since October 2020, Samantha has focused on full-time parenting, dedicating her efforts to raising her family and supporting her household.
Beyond her professional life, Samantha has been actively involved in volunteering.
Since 2016, she has led Love Your Melon crews, organizing efforts to support children battling cancer.
She has also contributed to Feed My Starving Children and Urban Plunge since 2008, focusing on hunger relief and disaster aid.
Additionally, Samantha supports Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Miami Dolphins Women’s Organization, helping children and promoting environmental initiatives.
