Justin Ishbia and his wife Kristen spent nearly $40 million to buy four homes on the Winnetka lakefront.

Billionaire private equity investor and minority owner of the Nashville SC, Justin Ishbia, is in line to be the next owner of the Chicago White Sox, as per the news release issued by the team on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Ishbia and the current owner of the Sox, Jerry Reinsdorf, entered into an agreement that could lead to Justin taking over the team as early as 2029 or as late as 2034.

In the interim, he will make capital infusions into the White Sox in 2025 and 2026 as a limited partner, paying down debt while helping “support ongoing team operations.”

From 2029 to 2033, Jerry will have the option to sell a controlling interest to Ishbia as per the agreement details. If a deal isn’t completed by then, Justin will have the option to take over after 2034.

The statement said, “There is no assurance that any such future transaction will occur, and in no event will such a transaction take place before 2029.

In addition to Justin, his brotherMat, and father, Jeff, will also be significant investors.

Ishbia made his fortune as the founder of Chicago-based Shore Capital Partners. He is already a minority investor in the organization, but the agreement now positions him to own a controlling interest as the team enters the next decade.

Reinsdord, who is a principal owner of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls, bought the team in 1981 for $20 million. It’s now worth over $2 billion.
