Miro Heiskanen and Matt Duchene will be absent from the ice when the Dallas Stars take on the Bruins in Boston on Monday.
Heiskanen, the 24-year-old defenseman, will commemorate the birth of his first child, who arrived Sunday night.
In preparation for the President’s Day matchup against the Bruins, Dallas has called defenseman Alexander Petrovic and Derrick Pouliot from the Texas Stars (AHL) to the NHL roster.
Both players, Nils Lundkvist and Jani Hakanpää, are currently sidelined and unable to travel with the team.
Lundkvist is in concussion protocol, while Hakanpää suffers from an upper-body injury.
Consequently, Alexander Petrovic and Derrick Pouliot are expected to fill in for their absence.
Head coach Pete DeBoer has indicated that the plan is for Heiskanen to rejoin the team at some point during Dallas’ week-long road trip.
