Mississauga MLB Star Josh Naylor’s Wife, Chantel Collado, Is Also His Longtime Friend and High School Sweetheart!

Canadian-born MLB star Josh Naylor now enjoys a fulfilling married life with his wife, Chantel Collado.

Chantel Collado and Josh were high school sweethearts, and their bond only grew stronger as his baseball career took off.

Even as Josh moved through the ranks of MLB from his debut with the San Diego Padres to his All-Star season with the Cleveland Guardians, Chantel remained by his side.

After years of growing together personally and professionally, the couple got engaged in June 2023.

On January 5, 2025, Josh and Chantel officially tied the knot in their hometown of Mississauga.

The event was kept relatively private, though Chantel did share a heartfelt message on Instagram, her Instagram Story, stating “I love you husband @jaynaylor10,” marking the start of their married life.

While Seattle Mariners First Baseman Josh Naylor Shines in MLB, his Wife, Chantel Collado, Continues her Family’s Legacy Through her Music

Chantel Collado is not just the wife of a baseball star; she’s a talented Canadian singer-songwriter with deep roots in Latin music.

She was born on December 15, 1997, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and grew up in nearby Mississauga

She was raised by Dominican and Uruguayan parents. Chantel inherited her passion for music from her family, especially her father, “Leo Collado”, a musician himself.

While appearing on CBC alongside fellow Canadian artists like Cruzito and Alex Cuba, Chantel Collado spoke about her music and her family’s musical background, saying:

“I started performing at a very, very young age, I grew up in a household with my parents being Latinos, speaking Spanish, I would almost say that’s my first language.”

Professionally, Chantel is best known for her work in Latin genres, such as bachata, salsa, and merengue, and she has earned the nickname “La Princesa de la Bachata” in the Canadian Latin music scene.

Her powerful voice, energetic performances, and cultural pride have gained her a loyal following in both Canada and Latin America.

“Tu Princesita,” “Rey Tu No Serás,” Valorar, and “Someone Like You” are some of her known singles.

Collado combines Canadian and Latin American cultures in her music, but she has often expressed feeling that opportunities for Latin singers in Canada are limited.

She has emphasized the need for more support and recognition of Latin musicians in Canada, pointing out that many artists must leave the country to pursue opportunities.

In her interview with CBC, she said;

“I do feel like we could use a little bit more credit for what we do. We’re almost forced to leave our country and take our music elsewhere,” Collado said. “I feel like there could be some work there [in Canada].”

Despite the challenges she faced in her professional journey, she now enjoys a successful marriage and a promising career ahead.
