Mitch was raised by his grandmother, who is also his most significant source of motivation. Currently, she lives in Pensacola, Florida.

Mitchell wants to relocate her away from there and have her with him wherever he ends up. That’s what he thinks about every time he gets onto the court, and it motivates him to keep going.

Mitchell Robinson: High School Career

Mitchell Robinson spent his first two years at Pine Forest High School in Pensacola, Florida.

After that, he moved to Landry-Walker College and Career Preparatory High School in New Orleans as a sophomore. However, he never played there.

Mitch did play for Pine Forest as a first- and second-year student, but he didn’t make much of an impression because he was still relatively new to basketball.

In eighth grade, Mitchell had only begun playing during a growth spurt that saw him grow from 6 ft 2 inches to 7 ft 0 inches.

He originally appeared in the summer league for Chalmette High School before his junior year.

Mitchell Robinson: College Career

Mitchell enrolled at Western Kentucky University for the summer semester in July 2017 and practiced with the squad for approximately two weeks before a scheduled team trip to Costa Rica.

According to sources, he had departed college, and his room had been cleaned up. He was subsequently indefinitely suspended for breaking team rules.

After discussing with head coach Rick Stansbury, he was given a transfer release, and he would have had to sit out the 2017–18 season unless the NCAA made an unexpected judgment.

Mitchell visited Louisiana State University, the University of Kansas, and the University of New Orleans in August 2017 to obtain a waiver from the NCAA.

On September 18, the player declared his intention to forego college and enter the 2018 NBA Draft on his own.

He would be the first recruited draft selection to not play for any college, professional, or high school/postgraduate team for a whole year before entering the NBA draft.

However, NBA would still recognize him as coming out of Western Kentucky.

Furthermore, due to his brief stint at Western Kentucky, he was eventually forbidden from playing in the NBA G League later in the season according to G League rules.

The decision also impacted a few other prospects in comparable positions at the time, such as Billy Preston and De’Anthony Melton.
