Jordan Young credits his military parents, Derek and Nikki Young, for instilling leadership, discipline, and hard work.

Four-star safety Jordan Young is in the news due to his commitment to the University of Michigan Wolverines football team.

Despite his initial plans to sign with Clemson, his choice to commit to Michigan generated a lot of buzz.

Jordan Young’s Father’s Deployment Severely Affected Him During His Childhood!

Monroe High School football star Jordan Young was born to parents Derek and Nikki Young.

Like many young and promising high school athletes, Jordan has a special place in his heart for sports.

Moreover, his achievement during high school illustrates his undying passion and dedication to sports.

Beyond excelling in football, Young is a multi-sport athlete who plays basketball and competes in track & field events.

He is a state qualifier in both the long jump and triple jump as a 10th grader, becoming 3rd in the LJ and 4th in the TJ at the NCHSAA 2A meet.

Thus, Jordan’s emerging and ferocious on-field talent received attention as he received 33 Offers to continue his college football career.

Young eventually accepted an offer from the University of Michigan (Michigan Wolverines) in December 2024.

Hence, his accomplishments highlight his parents’ unwavering love and support for him.

Derek and Nikki ensured that their son, Jordan, had everything he needed to become a competent football player.

Furthermore, Jordan inherited strength and patience from his parents, Derek and Nikki, who served in the U.S. Military.

Derek Young, U.S. Army Capt., deployed several times during his son’s life. Meanwhile, Nikki withdrew from the Navy prematurely to support their family.

The deployment was painful for the Young family as Jordan was just a toddler.

“A lot of moments you miss. Moments you can’t get back. A lot of nights he went to bed, holding my shirt to get my scent”

Captain Young regarded his first deployment in 2009 as the most grueling. Jordan vividly recalls times when he was too little to grasp why his father was not around.

“It was hard at first, but just knowing that he had to provide for us made it better.”

One such moment was Christmas Day when his family gathered around a video chat to spend time with his father.

Despite all the adversity, Derek and Nikki raised their son with all the love, care, and protection.

Even though Derek was absent during most of Jordan’s upbringing, he always tried to keep in touch with his son.
