At around 10 p.m., an SUV driven by a 41-year-old from Eldon struck Simpson’s vehicle from behind in the eastbound lanes.
Emergency responders pronounced Simpson dead at the scene, while the SUV driver sustained no injuries.
Simpson would have entered his junior year at Versailles High School in the fall of 2025.
The active student participated extensively in school activities, including DECA, cross country, football, track and field, and wrestling.
