The Southern Lehigh community is mourning the tragic death of a talented student-athlete, Ayden Scharper.
Ayden Scharper was a freshman punter and kicker for the Muhlenberg College football team.
A 2023 graduate of Southern Lehigh High School in Pennsylvania, he earned three varsity letters each in football and soccer, receiving all-area honors in both sports.
On the football field, he served as both a kicker and punter while also playing as a goalkeeper in soccer.
During his first season at Muhlenberg, he appeared in seven varsity games, averaging 41.2 yards on five punts, with a long of 46 yards and two punts landing inside the 20-yard line.
He also kicked off nine times with a 53.2-yard average and recorded his first collegiate point with a successful PAT against TCNJ.
According to his official LinkedIn profile, he was set to graduate from Muhlenberg College in 2027.

A freshman punter and kicker for Muhlenberg College, Ayden Scharper, tragically lost his life in June 2025 at 19. However, the cause of death has not been made public.
Agency Owner and agent at Horace Mann, Judy Stien, took to his Facebook handle and mourned the death of Ayden Scharper by stating,

Ayden will always be remembered for his unforgettable contributions as a football player at Southern Lehigh High School and Muhlenberg College.

Ayden Scharper Is Survived By His Parents And One Younger Brother
Born on August 24, 2005, in Southern Lehigh, Pennsylvania, Ayden Scharper was raised by his parents, Noah and Jessica Scharper.
They always supported Ayden in achieving his football dreams. Currently, Noah and Jessica are mourning the tragic loss of their son, Ayden.
According to Jessica’s LinkedIn profile, she graduated from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Managerial Economics.
She served as the Leadership Systems and Performance Analyst Assistant at Agere Systems for one year.
From June 2021 to April 2022, Jessica was a full-time office administrator and receptionist for VM Development Group.
Since April 2022, she has been serving as the field service coordinator and recruiter at Lutron Electronics.
On the other hand, Ayden’s father has been staying away from the media spotlight.
Ayden is also survived by his younger brother, Ethan Scharper, who has also stayed away from social media.
