Muskogee Public Schools’ wrestling coach Mark Peters died peacefully on Sunday evening.
Mark Peters devoted 26 years to Muskogee Public School as an educator and wrestling coach.
According to Peters’s Facebook profile, he attended Northeastern State University from 1990 to 1994.
Peters was an outstanding master teacher of Physical Science. He was President of MEA and always stood up for Public Education.
Wrestling Coach Mark McKinley Peters Passed Away At The Age Of 65
Mark McKinley Peters tragically passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 65. However, the exact cause of death has not been revealed.
Public school educator Brian P Doerner took to his official Facebook handle to announce the death of Mark. He wrote,
“It is with great sadness that I share the passing of Mark Peters earlier this week. Mark devoted 26 years to Muskogee Public Schools as an educator and coach, impacting countless students and colleagues with his dedication, kindness, and love for teaching.”

Wes Parish, a lead guitarist in The Cash Lambeth Band, remembered the time he played wrestling under coach Mark. He wrote,
Man, coach pete was one of the realest. Gave me more chances than I deserved in the room. He taught me so much thru wrestling. He was hard but fair and we had a room full of knuckleheads. Blessed to have known this man. What a privilege to have wrestled for him. He coached me back in West Middle School and the 7th and 8th grade center. He was mean as a rattlesnake. RIP coach Pete💪🏾

A service to honor Mark’s life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish Hall, located at 321 N. Virgibia St, Muskogee, OK 74403. A reception will follow in the St. Joseph School Gym.
Mark will always be remembered for his unforgettable contributions as a wrestling coach at Muskogee Public Schools.

Mark McKinley Peters Is Survived By His Wife, Marybeth Flusche, And Six Children
Mark McKinley Peters was married to Marybeth Kane Flusche of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, United States.
According to Marybeth’s Facebook profile, she attended Bartlesville High School and studied hospitality and restaurant management at Oklahoma State University.
She also worked at Muskogee Public Schools and served as a science teacher at Muskogee Public School.
Marybeth also served as a teacher at Alice Robertson Jr High School and New Tech Academy.
Mark and Marybeth were blessed with six children: Angel Bowlin, Eli Peters, Emily Pierce, Joey Flusche, Matt Flusche, and Ali Highers.
They are also mourning the tragic loss of their supportive and devoted father, Mark McKinley Peters.
