Rebecca Allen, an Australian professional basketball player for the Chicago Sky of the WNBA, continues to thrive in her sports career.
The FIBA World Cup silver medalist, Rebecca Allen, recently delivered an outstanding performance in the Chicago Sky’s 87-76 victory over the Dallas Wings on Thursday, July 10.
Playing 27 minutes, Allen scored a game-high 27 points while contributing 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks.
She shot an impressive 69.2% from the field, 71.4% from three-point range, and 80% from the free-throw line.
With her remarkable performance, Rebecca Allen not only won the hearts of millions but also made her parents and family proud.
Rebecca Kate ‘Bec’ Allen was born on November 6, 1992, in Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia, to parents John and Helen Allen. She has a twin brother named Christopher Allen.
Furthermore, Rebecca Allen, along with her parents and twin brother, moved to Melbourne when she was five years old.
Rebecca Allen often credits her parents, Helen and John, for instilling in her the passion for sports and music from a very young age and guiding her athletic journey.
In an interview, Rebecca stated that while growing up, her parents encouraged her to try ‘a little bit of everything,’ including multiple sports and playing different musical instruments.
She began her sports journey with netball, excelling in basketball and volleyball.
Rebecca further revealed that her father, John Helen, also wanted her to play music, so she tried a whole array of musical instruments; however, that never really worked out for her.
While John and Helen Allen supported and guided Rebecca’s sports journey, they also made sure she focused and excelled in her academics.
“My parents have always made sure I have an academic component in my life. I’m a big believer in having something after basketball. I’m not going to play this forever so that’s why I’m getting my master’s. It’s also good because it provides a break from basketball. I need another dimension because if it’s all just basketball, I go a little bit insane. That’s just my personality.”
