In Memory of Nabeel Saliu. The Welland Soccer Club is devastated with the sudden passing of one of our own, Nabeel Saliu. Nabeel was a bright light in the game. Talented on the field and a smiling, happy teammate off the field. He will be greatly missed by his coaches and friends at the Club. Our hearts and minds are with the Saliu family at this time. Rest in peace, Nabeel.

The news of Nabeel’s demise has left his family, teammates, and the entire Welland soccer club family devastated.
The young player, who was in his early teens, was admired not only for his skills on the soccer field but also for his ability to bring positivity and encouragement to those around them.
The Club family remembers him for his infectious smile and his amazing celebration dancing. One of Saliu’s teammates, Austin’s mother writes,
We will miss so much watching Nabeel have such joy while playing and his amazing celebration dances, still makes us smile. Will miss you more than you know, what a friend to everyone, and Austin misses you more than you know. Says he can’t wait to play soccer with you in Heaven again someday.

Similarly, the loud and proud cheer of Nabeel’s dad will be missed in the soccer field. Mr. Saliu was always by his side in the young player’s soccer endeavors. One of the close ones writes,
We will miss watching you play soccer and hearing your dad cheer louder than anyone on the field for you and your teammates .Our heart breaks for the Saliu family during this very difficult time.
