The professional tennis player was born on February 28, 1990, in Stockport, England.

She is the daughter of a proud father, Simo Broady, and mother, Shirley Broady. Her parents were property mogul and used to work in the music industry.

Along with her parents, Naomi grew up with three siblings; two brothers named Liam Broady and Calum Broady and a sister Emma Broady.

Furthermore, her brother, Liam Broady, is also a prominent figure in the tennis world. He was the winner of Junior Wimbledon champion in 2010 and Junior Australian Open champion in 2012.

Eventually, Naomi also participated in junior doubles. However, she could not win any title but reached the quarterfinal in four tournaments and the semifinal in one.

In the end, she got ranked in the 251st number in the career-high ranking and had a win-loss record of 11-15.

Following January, she also played on the adult ITF circuit but didn’t qualify in any five matches. However, in 2006, with hard work and dedication, she continued playing on the ITF circuit.

Fortunately, in 2007, she reached the quarterfinals of a 10,000 tournament but lost to Anna Smith in the end.

2008 – 2009

Initially, in 2008, Broady made a promising start in Sunderland by reaching the semifinals of her first $10,000 ITF tournament of the year. Later in June, she also made her debut on the WTA Tour.

After that, she also participated in the Tier III DFS Classic tournament and defeated Andreja Klepač but lost a hard-fought fight in the second round to Margit Rüütel.

2014 – 2015

Broady received a wild card into Wimbledon’s main draw, following a successful season, including tournament wins in Sharm El Sheikh, Namangan, and Fukuoka.

Subsequently, that year she won her first Grand Slam victory at the game.

However, Naomi’s run ended in the second round, when she lost in straight sets to Caroline Wozniacki.

Nevertheless, she partnered with Neal Skupski and qualified for the mixed doubles quarterfinals. In 2015, Naomi won her first win on clay by qualifying for the French Open.

Likewise, she also reached the Aegon Surbiton Trophy’s semifinals and achieved her first win of the season by winning against Ajla Tomljanović at the Birmingham Classic.

In the event, she beat Jarmila Gajdošová in three sets. This remarkable performance achieved her first win as the main draw of a WTA event.

After that, Broady ventured to qualify for the US Open but got defeated by Anett Kontaveit.

Eventually, that year, Broady competed in the Coleman Vision Tennis Championships’ final match, where she lost to Michaëlla Krajicek.

There, she was close to breaking the record of the ITF female player by her 28 aces. That brought her to a career ranking of 116.


Broady started her 2016 with a kick start by participating in the ASB Classic, Auckland.

There, she joined the qualifying round and earned victories from matches against Laura Siegemund, Kateryna Kozlova, and Magdaléna Rybáriková.

In 2017, Broady competed in the ITF Dow Tennis Classic in February, where she reached the singles final but got defeated by Tatjana Maria.
