NASCAR Mike Wallace Wife Carla Death & Obituary: Passed Away Due To Cancer

The NASCAR driver Mike Wallace wife, Carla Wallace, passed away after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer. Carla and Mike had been married for more than four decades.

Wallace announced the tragic news on his Facebook handle. The couple shared three kids, with one of their children even following in their father’s footsteps.

Mike Wallace comes from a family of race car drivers. His two brothers, Rusty and Kenny Wallace, competed in NASCAR. In 2020, Wallace faced public scrutiny for his social media post and was indefinitely suspended for Behavioral Sections violation. 

He was reinstated in 2021, and the last time we saw him in action was at the Xfinity Series in July 2020 for the Pennzoil 150 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, racing for JD Motorsports.

Mike Wallace wife, Carla Wallace, was his partner for 44 years. The couple married in their late teens and were parents to three kids, including daughters Chrissy and Lindsey and son Matt. 

Mike shared the devastating news of his wife’s demise on his Facebook handle. The NASCAR driver took to his Facebook handle and shared a photo of Carla.

He wrote, “I am devastated by my beautiful wife, Carla, passed away at 5:44 today from a four-year battle against Ovarian Cancer, and yes, Cancer sucks.”

Thousands of his fans and those close to him and Carla shared their tribute in his comment section. On January 21, Mike shared that his wife was fighting for her life at the hospital.

He shared a throwback picture of him and Carla from their wedding day, snaps of Carla with her grandkids, and that of Carla at the podium during one of his races. Wallace revealed that Carla didn’t want anyone to know about her ongoing battle with cancer.

She even told her family members not to talk about the cancer to anyone outside of the house. In the post, Wallace asked his fans to pray for his wife and make a miracle happen. 

Previously, in 2011, Carla and Mike had to put their 32nd wedding anniversary celebration on hold as Mike decided to race at Talladega Superspeedway. During the post-race interview, Mike said he hadn’t consulted Carla about the racing event. 

But the racer said his wife understood how much it meant to him. In the end, Mike won, and giving up on the vacation wasn’t looked upon as a bad idea. 

Mike Wallace Kids: The Racer Shared Three With Wife Carla

Many racing might know about Mike Wallace’s youngest daughter, Chrissy Wallace. The father-daughter duo stole headlines in 2009 when Chrissy decided to follow in her father’s footsteps. 

Chrissy began her racing journey in 2007 at age 19. She became the first female driver to win at Hickory Motor Speedway. A year later, she made her NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut and finished eighth.

In 2009, Chrissy and Mike became the first father-daughter duo to race in a national series event. They competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Mountain Dew 250. 

Chrissy last competed in a racing event in 2011 and has kept herself lowkey since then. Previously, in an interview in 2011, Chrissy said her goal was to land a ride in the Truck Series in 2012. 

Last year, in June, her uncle, Kenny Wallace, talked briefly about her in his YouTube video. Kenny said Chrissy had to give up on her NASCAR dream because she couldn’t find sponsors.

Mike’s Eldest Daughter Lindsey Wallace 

Mike and Carla’s eldest daughter, Lindsey Wallace Van Wingerden, took a career path different from her dad.

Lindsey is a project manager-event planner at Morgan Stanley and a graduate of UNC Charlotte. She is married to Thomas Van Wingerden and shares three kids.

The couple welcomed their first child, Thomas Jr, in 2017 and their second child, daughter Ellie, in 2020. On January 15, Lindsey and Thomas introduced the world to their latest addition to the family, Grayson Michael Van Wingerden. 

In 2016, Lindsey, Mike, Carla, and Thomas were attacked after a Rascal Flatts concert. Mike was punched and kicked multiple times, and Lindsey was also reportedly kicked in the ribs. Three men were later arrested and charged with assault. 

Mike Wallace Son Matt Tried His Hands In Racing

The youngest of the family, Matt Wallace wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. Matt made his racing debut in 2015 at age 19. 

He competed in the Xfinity Series with JGL Racing but never became a sensation. In an interview, Matt said his father never pressured him to race and has been his biggest supporter. 

Matt is available on Instagram but has kept his handle private. In his display picture, Matt can be seen beside his wife, who seems to be expecting.
