Nathan Peterman | Early Life, Parents & Education

Nathan Michael Peterman, commonly known as Nathan Peterman, was born on May 4, 1994, in Jacksonville, Florida, United States.

He is the youngest son of Chuck and Dana Peterman. Besides them, he has two elder brothers in the family.

Nathan, whom his friends and family call Nate, grew up in Jacksonville in a very religious family.

His father, Chuck, was a pastor and one of the founders of Creekside Christian Church, located just on the outskirts of their hometown.

His childhood was full of joy, and he gives all the credit to his two brothers for shaping him into the person he is today.

They grew up alongside him and helped him in every way possible.

The age difference between the three brothers is minimal, so they were like friends as kids.

His oldest brother, Ryan, used to help him with his studies and often did his homework by himself whenever Nate felt lazy or unwell.

His other brother, Aaron, was the one who helped him the most to strengthen his athletic side.

Although Ryan was also his playmate, he was not as good as Aaron when it came to extra-curricular activities.

Nate and Aaron enjoyed all kinds of sports. They mainly played basketball, football, and baseball with the kids in their neighborhoods.

Although Nate was his younger brother, Aaron played as aggressively with him as his friends and never showed mercy.

Nate believes that his brother’s attitude during their frequent games in the past hardened him over time, and he highly admires Aaron for his contribution to bringing out the best in him.

Regarding his academic background, Nathan attended the Bartram Trail High School in St. Jones, from which he graduated in 2012.

After high school, he enrolled in the University of Tennessee for his higher education.

Although he went to the University of Pittsburgh to play college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers in his junior year, Peterman obtained a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Tennessee in 2016.

Moreover, he later completed his MBA studies at Pitt’s Katz Graduate School of Business in Pennsylvania.

Nathan Peterman | Football Career

High School & College Career

While attending high school at St. Jones, Nathan played football as a quarterback for the Bartram Trail Bears.

He was impressive from his first season and maintained his form right up to the end of high school.

As a senior, Nathan had 36 touchdowns. Consequently, he became a four-star recruit after his senior season.

Various university football teams called upon him, but he eventually chose to join the University of Tennessee in 2012.

However, he remained a redshirt freshman in 2012 and only made his appearance for the team the next year as a backup quarterback.

The Tennessee coach Butch Jones favored him over Justin Worley in later games, but he could only appear in four games that season because of injury.

After his second season with the Tennessee Volunteers did not go well as expected, he transferred to the University of Pittsburgh in 2015.

While with the Pittsburgh Panthers, he got more opportunities and, as a result, regained his strength back.

He played thirteen games each season in his third and final years with impressive stats, due to which he later became one of the five players from the Pittsburgh Panthers to get drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.

NFL Career

The Buffalo Bills of the NFL chose Nathan Peterman as the 2017 draft’s 171st overall pick in the fifth round.

His performance in the last two college seasons and the 2017 Super Bowl was enough for him to secure a place in the league.

However, Peterman remained benched until the tenth week into the season and was only around five minutes on the field in his debut match against the New Orleans Saints.

In the meantime, Peterman signed with the Las Vegas Raiders (then Oakland Raiders) and remained with them until the end of 2021.

He signed with the Chicago Bears on May 11, 2022, but was released and signed to the practice squad on August 30, 2022.

But he played only four matches in his first season, for which he received $465k. In addition, he earned $239k as a signing bonus.
