Caris LeVert, an NBA star who plays for the Atlanta Hawks, continues to carry his late father’s legacy in sports.

The NBA star Caris LeVert was born on August 25, 1994, in Columbus, Ohio, as the first child of parents Darryl and Kim LeVert.

Caris LeVert’s life changed completely when he lost his father, Darryl Wayne LeVerty, at a very young age.

The NBA star was just 15 when he lost his father, Darryl, 46, on April 4, 2010, on Easter day.

Caris LeVert rushed downstairs to the family room after hearing his younger brother scream and saw his father lying cold on the floor following a heart attack.

Following his father’s tragic demise, Caris matured quickly. As the oldest male in the family, he took care of his mother, Kim, and younger brother, Darryl.

Darryl Wayne LeVert, who played Division III basketball during his college years, instilled a passion for sports in his sons Caris and Darryl.

Although he didn’t pursue his basketball career professionally, Darryl supported and coached both Caris and his younger brother to pursue their passion for basketball.

Caris often speaks about his late father and shares that he became more focused and determined to pursue his basketball career after his passing.

He also often talks about his mother, Kim, who has been his constant source of support through all his good and bad days.

Darryl Wayne LeVert was born on October 8, 1963, to mother Eunice and father Caris LeVert in Johnstown, Ohio.

A native of Johnstown, Darryl began his basketball journey while attending Johnstown Monroe High School.

Caris’ father Darryl also played basketball at Capital University while pursing his bachelor’s degree in commercial art.

However, he didn’t play professionally and decided to pursue a career in design.

Darryl spent his last eight years as a graphic designer, senior team member, and sign design consultant at DaNite Sign Company located in Columbus, Ohio, United States.

Likewise, he was a member of Johnstown Independent Baptist Church and was known for his kind nature.

Even though Darryl has passed away, Caris honors his late father while excelling in his basketball journey.

Darryl was not just a great father to Caris LeVert and his brother, but also an amazing husband to Kim LeVert.The couple was married for 19 years.

Caris’ mother, Kim LeVert, is an educator at Columbus City Schools in Pickerington, Ohio. Kim has been a teacher for over 25 years.

His younger brother, Darryl Marcus, played basketball for Connors State College.
