The Neptune community is mourning the sudden loss of Thomas “Tommy” Walsh, a cherished teacher, coach, and family man who passed away unexpectedly.
Tommy, who recently retired after 40 years of service at Neptune High School, leaves behind his wife, children, and loved ones.
Above all, Tommy was more than just a teacher. For over four decades, he taught driver’s education at Neptune High School.
As a coach, he inspired young athletes, earning the affectionate nickname “Coach Walsh.”
Following his sudden demise, his daughter, Andi Noel, wrote heartfelt words on her Facebook, describing him as an “amazing man, dad, husband, a great coach, and teacher.”
She spoke of her deep bond with her father, recalling how she was always by his side at practices and games, a true “daddy’s girl.” She wrote:

Andi expressed her grief, saying, “I don’t understand how my Dad is just gone with no warning.”
“If anyone would like to share some stories in the comments I’d really like to read some,” Andi invited those who knew him to share stories and memories.
His daughter’s request for memories has touched many hearts, as people have been sharing warm stories about how he cheered them on and made them feel supported.
At the moment, the Walsh family has asked for privacy as they process this heartbreaking loss, as his daughter Andi wrote, “We would like some time to process as it was sudden & unexpected.“
Neptune High School released a statement honoring Tommy’s remarkable contributions:
Mr. Walsh was one of the most dedicated teachers Neptune has ever known. He taught generations of students how to drive and how to approach life with patience, kindness, and respect. His impact will be felt for years to come, and he will be truly missed.
