Russell Wilson And Ashton Meem Were Married For 2 Years!
Their love story began in Richmond, Virginia, during their teenage years.
In 2006, they met briefly while attending different high schools. During that time, Wilson was a student at Collegiate School, while Meem attended St. Catherine’s High School, about five miles apart.
Their initial encounter was brief, but fate reunited them at a summer party. Meem later recalled to the Richmond Times-Dispatch in 2012, “We met briefly in high school. Then again at a summer party and after that started seeing each other.”
Once high school ended, Wilson and Meem had the challenge of attending different colleges. Wilson played football at North Carolina State University while Meem attended the University of Georgia to pursue a course in advertising.
Despite the distance, they maintained a long-distance relationship, set on making things work.
In 2009, Meem made a significant decision to transfer to North Carolina State University to be closer to Wilson.
The move allowed them to nurture their relationship as she completed her degree in communications and graduated in 2010.
Meanwhile, Wilson’s collegiate football career was getting going, and in 2011 he transferred to the University of Wisconsin for his final year of college eligibility, yet again testing their ability to cope with distance.
However, Meem adapted her academic path to support Wilson, which spoke volumes about their bond.
By August 2010, Wilson was ready to take their relationship to the next level. He planned an elaborate surprise proposal at the Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, North Carolina.

Later, on January 14, 2012, Wilson and Meem tied the knot at the Country Club of Virginia in Richmond, surrounded by approximately 300 guests.
