Adonai Mitchell lights up the field for the New York Jets with his speed, crisp routes, and knack for shining in big moments.

He won two national championships in college, one with Georgia in 2022 and a playoff run with Texas that turned heads.

His Authentic MVP is his Daughter, Icylinn McLaurine, who goes by Twin Twin or Ice.

When it comes to Adonai Mitchell’s kids, she’s the only one, and she’s everything to him.

Icylinn was born in the summer of 2021, just as Adonai was finding his stride at the University of Georgia. The moment he saw her, his world changed.

He fell hard for his little girl and hated every second he spent away from her. Playing college ball in Athens meant long stretches apart, and that distance weighed on him.

His father, Norman Mitchell, noticed it too.

Norman said in an interview:

“He struggled a lot with her being so far away, At the end of the day, it was a decision to be closer to his daughter.”

That decision led to one of the biggest moves of Adonai’s career. After an injury-plagued sophomore year at the University of Georgia, he transferred to the University of Texas.

Austin was only a two-hour drive from home, close enough to see Icylinn whenever he wanted. He could finally be the hands-on dad he dreamed of being.

Adonai shared-:

“Now I know why parents say that no matter how big I get, they’ll always see me as their little baby, No matter how big she gets, I still see her like the day she was born.”

On June 9, 2024, Adonai wrote a letter to Icylinn, knowing she was too young to read it at the time, as she was busy with her toy kitchen set, but wanting her to have his words one day.

He told her he was entering the NFL Draft to chase his dream of playing pro football.

Growing up, he played basketball with his brothers and even tried quarterback before settling in as a wide receiver.

His family moved schools often, and football became his anchor, giving him confidence and purpose.

He chose Georgia even though he wasn’t a top recruit.

Under Coach Kirby Smart, practices were brutal; Kirby barked through a megaphone, pushing everyone to their physical and mental limits. It worked.

In 2022, Adonai’s freshman year, Georgia won the national title, and he caught a crucial touchdown in the championship game.

That same year, Icylinn was born. Fatherhood gave him a new kind of fire, but being so far from her hurt.

The injury in the next season made him realize he was missing too much. Texas was his chance to make that right.

In Texas, he thrived under Coach Steve Sarkisian. The team beat Alabama, reached the playoffs, and built memories he’ll never forget.

The season didn’t end the way he hoped, but he was most grateful for the daily moments with Icylinn.

He plans to finish his degree and still speaks with pride about both Georgia and Texas. In the letter, he told her she’s the best thing in his life, the reason he pushes so hard.

Adonai used NIL money in college to provide for Icylinn, building a future for her before he even turned pro.

Now with the Jets, he carries that same drive.

His daughter fuels every route he runs and every catch he makes.
