Steven A. Cohen met his wife, Alexandra Cohen, in 1991 through a dating service. She was one of twenty women who responded to his invitation.

Born on June 11, 1956, he has owned over 97% of the New York Mets’ Major League Baseball teams since September 14, 2020.

He is also a billionaire hedge fund manager and the founder of S.A.C. Capital Advisors and Point72 Asset Management closed due to financial crimes.

As part of the settlement, Cohen paid a $1.8 billion fine and was prohibited from managing outside money for two years.

The Mets’ owner recently signed a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million deal with Juan Soto, a baseball player.

Steve Cohen And Alexandra Tied the Knot in 1992 and Have Been Together Ever Since

Alexandra Garcia graduated with a communications degree from New York’s Manhattan College and worked in the financial industry before marriage in 1992.

Regarding Alex, an acquaintance told BusinessWeek that she’d always wanted to marry a millionaire, but she also saw Steve’s other charms.

Alex thought he was the funniest person she’d ever met. In an interview, she once mentioned:

“The day we met I knew I was going to marry him.”

Alexandra was a single mother, and Steve was divorced when they first met.

Since then, she has dedicated her time to charitable activities and her family’s upbringing.

The couple has seven kids, including some from Steve Cohen’s previous marriage with Patricia Finke.

Alex co-founded the nonprofit Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation with her husband in 2001 and currently serves as its president.

Her foundation allocates its donations to children, underprivileged communities, the arts, sustainability, and Lyme and tickborne diseases research.

Moreover, Alex is also president of the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, the team’s associated charity, and a passionate Mets supporter.

According to the New York Post, Alex wore a $65,000 30-carat diamond necklace as evidence of her support for the Mets.

It was Met-inspired neckwear featuring diamonds, natural rubies, and three Mets logos on a 14-karat gold chain.

Steve Cohen’s Ex-Wife, Patricia, Sued Him 20 Years After The Divorce

Cohen was previously married to Patricia Finke in 1979. Together, they are parents to two kids.

However, the couple separated in 1988, and their divorce was finalized in 1990.

At the time of divorce, Steven disclosed a net worth of $16.9 million. Patricia received $1 million in cash as alimony and their Upper East Side apartment, valued at $3.8 million.

Today, Forbes estimates Steven Cohen’s net worth at $12.7 billion.

In December 2009, nearly 20 years after divorce, Patricia filed a $300 million lawsuit against Steven, alleging he hid millions of dollars in assets through fraudulent activities.

Patricia Cohen argued that she was entitled to at least half of the $5.5 million and interest.

However, in 2011, the court dismissed the case, saying there was no evidence that Steven had concealed any assets from Patricia during the divorce.

According to an article published on 2009, Steve and Patricia had an on-and-off divorce and were together even if Steve was talking with Alex.

He said,

“I had gone through a pretty messy divorce and wasn’t ready, it wasn’t a clean separation. We went back and forth for a while.”
