New York Rangers Coach Peter Laviolette, Who Used To Lean On His Wife Kristen Might Need That Now More Than Ever Amidst Firing Rumors

Many have asked the New York Rangers to fire head coach Peter Laviolette after a recent post-game comment stirred up controversy.

The decision comes after the Rangers suffered a tough 5-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on 7 April.

What shocked many wasn’t just the loss but Laviolette’s response afterward.

When asked what he told the team following the defeat, he admitted he didn’t say anything because he didn’t even go into the locker room.

Back in the day, Peter Laviolette would often turn to his wife for advice and it looks like he needs to do as of now. Otherwise fans wouldn’t demanded to fire him.

As the Washington Capitals wrapped up a long road trip with a stop in Philly before heading home, they pulled off a comeback win against Edmonton, with a big boost from Aliaksei Protas in 2022

After the game, Laviolette got a text from his wife.

He didn’t even realize Protas’ billet family from his junior days was at the game, but she did.

She told him it was a great win and joked that they should bring Protas’ billet family along more often because he always plays so well in front of them.

Laviolette laughed and said she had plenty more to say too.

Peter And Kristen Laviolette Embrace A New Chapter In D.C. After Nearly Three Decades Together

Peter and Kristen Laviolette have been married for 28 years. Their story started at a Boston airport, back when Peter was coaching the Providence Bruins in the AHL.

He spotted Kristen at the Delta Airlines counter and decided to take a chance, so he asked for her number. Kristen didn’t give it to him, instead, she took his.

After dating for six months, they got engaged and tied the knot in June 1996.

Since then, they’ve built a beautiful family together. Their first son, Peter Laviolette III, was born on December 19, 1997.

Then their second son, Jack, arrived on May 15, 1999, and, a daughter named Elizabeth Rose, completed the family.

When Peter was hired by the Capitals in late 2020, Kristen was still living in Florida, so he stayed in D.C. with a few assistant coaches in what he described as a “bachelor pad” setup for the 2020-21 season.

Now, with Kristen in Washington, DC, and all three of their kids off at college, it’s the first time in decades they’ve had the house to themselves since 2021.

Kristen Laviolette shared that she and Peter had just started settling into life in D.C.

In an interview with NBC Sports Washington’s Al Koken, she said they had recently arrived in town and were finally getting the chance to explore the city a bit.

She mentioned that Peter was enjoying being able to get out more, and that they were both looking forward to experiencing more of what the city had to offer.
