NFL player Jake Funk and his wife, Bachelor alum Hannah Ann Sluss, are getting ready to welcome their first baby later this year.
The couple, who got married in a beautiful ceremony in Italy last June, recently shared the exciting news.
They found out they were expecting during a trip to Dubai, and said it was a happy and unforgettable surprise. Their baby is due in November.
Since the baby is due during the peak of cold and flu season, they’re being extra careful about the products they choose.
Jake’s mom, A’Lisa Funk, has also been a big help during this time.
With her experience and support, she’s guiding the couple through the early stages of preparing for parenthood.
From giving advice to helping them make smart choices, she’s been a comforting presence as they get ready to become a family of three.
Running Back Jake Funk Comes From An Athletic Family
Jake Funk, the NFL running back, comes from a close-knit family with deep roots in sports, and much of his success can be credited to the love and support of his parents, Jim and A’Lisa Funk.
His father, Jim, was a former football player at Penn State and later worked as a Business Manager for public schools in Maryland for nearly 20 years.
He was known not just for his career achievements but for being a passionate and supportive dad, always cheering loudly at his sons’ games.
He took great pride in Jake’s football journey, especially when Jake won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022.
Sadly, Jim passed away unexpectedly in July 2023, which was a huge loss for the family.
Jake has spoken about how meaningful it was to be home with his mom during that first holiday season without his father.
Jake’s mother, A’Lisa, was also an accomplished athlete, having been a national champion swimmer at Clarion University in Pennsylvania.
She played a key role in Jake’s life, especially during the times he faced challenges, like recovering from two serious knee injuries in college.
She kept him motivated and grounded, always reminding him to stay positive and focused.
After Jim’s passing, A’Lisa became an even stronger source of support for Jake and his brothers.
She has also welcomed Jake’s wife, Hannah Ann Sluss, with open arms, showing how much she values family and connection.
The Funk family was raised in Damascus, Maryland, a town where football is part of the culture.
Athletic talent runs in the family, with Jake’s grandfather playing basketball at Penn State and his grandmother being one of the first female athletes at the school.
His older brother Josh played lacrosse at Ohio State and now runs a physical therapy clinic that helped Jake recover from injury, while his younger brother Jordan played football and briefly attended the Army before transferring.
