They also donated $400 million in 2023 to help rebuild Portland, Oregon’s historically Black Albina neighborhood, regarded as one of Knight’s most notable donations.
Phil Knight and Penny Parks Knight have been each other’s constant source of support for over five decades.

Phil Knight and Penny Parks, Parents of Three Kids, Lost Their Son Matthew in 2004!
Phil Knight and his long-term wife, Penny Parks, were blessed with three children: two sons, Matthew Knight and Travis Knight, and a daughter, Kristina Ament Knight.
Their first child, Matthew Knight, was born on September 11, 1969, in Portland, Oregon, a year after Phil and Penny’s marriage.
Unfortunately, Matthew passed away on May 23, 2004, in San Salvador, El Salvador.
Matthew Knight had a lifelong interest in film-making and videography.
Likewise, Matthew was in San Salvador, shooting video footage for a fund-raising effort for local orphanages before the tragic accident took his life.
Matthew lost his life while scuba-diving; he reached 160 feet before his tragic demise. He had two sons, Logan and Dylan, with his wife, Angie.
During a 2015 interview, Phil Knight recalled coping with the demise of his son, stating that it took him about six months to function again, and it’s something a parent never gets over.

He also added that a letter from Gordy Crawford, an analyst on Wall Street at that time who lost his son in a climbing accident, made him feel comfortable.
In the letter to Knight, Crawford wrote that he locked up his desk on Wall Street and did not return to work for six months. Knight stated:
Talking about Phil and Penny’s other children, their son Travis Knight is an American animator, producer, director, actor, and former rapper best known for movies like Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee.
Travis Andrew Knight also worked as the lead animator and is the current CEO of the stop-motion animation studio Laika.
Moreover, Travis Knight is a producer and lead animator for The Boxtrolls, which won the Best Animated Feature Oscar nomination.
That said, very little information about their daughter Kristina Ament is available as she prefers to live a private life.
