NJ Coach Donny Lang Sometimes Forgets Bilal Is Just 15 Amid Breakout Season

Bilal Robinson already looks like a key piece of Overbrook’s future.

Bilal Robinson, the standout 6’6″ wing from Pine Hill, New Jersey, is turning heads in South Jersey high school basketball with his breakout sophomore season for Overbrook High School.

Wearing jersey #3 as a small forward and shooting guard, the class of 2028 prospect has already proven he’s no ordinary teenager on the court, especially considering his remarkably young age.

At just 15 years old, Bilal is making an impact that belies his youth. His coach, Donny Lang, captured it perfectly when he said,

“Bilal has made major strides in his growth and maturity this season. He’s become highly coachable and a true student of the game, consistently applying feedback and learning how to impact winning beyond just scoring. He’s only 15 years old and sometimes I forget that.”

That quote says it all. Lang isn’t alone in occasionally losing sight of just how young Bilal is, his performances demand attention like a seasoned veteran.

Standing tall at 6’6″ and a lean 155 pounds, Bilal’s lanky frame gives him a natural advantage as a scorer, defender, and rim protector.

He’s averaging around 14 points, nearly 6 rebounds, and close to 2 blocks per game this season, while showing steady improvement in his all-around game.

The breakout really kicked off in the season opener, where Bilal dropped a career-high 26 points in a convincing 77-51 win over Overbrook (PA).

Not long after, he delivered one of the most clutch moments of the young campaign at the Jeff Coney Classic, draining a game-winning three-pointer to seal the victory against WesTech.

Those kinds of plays highlight his scoring ability and composure under pressure, skills that have helped Overbrook build a strong record and compete in tough non-conference matchups.

Bilal’s journey to this point has roots beyond the hardwood. Before dominating on the basketball court, he was a standout in Knight Youth Football from 2021 to 2024, showing early athletic promise.

Now fully focused on hoops, he’s transitioned seamlessly to varsity ball, first as a freshman and now exploding as a sophomore.

His Hudl highlights and Instagram clips show smooth drives, soft touch on floaters, sharp three-point shooting, and defensive versatility that make him a matchup nightmare.

What makes Bilal’s rise even more impressive is how he’s evolving beyond pure scoring.

Lang praises his growth into a vocal leader who brings daily energy, elevates his teammates, and contributes in multiple ways, rebounding, blocking shots, and making smart plays.

In key wins like rallies against Audubon and contributions in tight games versus St. Augustine, Bilal has shown he can step up when it matters most.

For a player still so young in high school terms, Bilal Robinson is already looking like a cornerstone for Overbrook’s future.

With his size, skill set, work ethic, and that rare poise, the sky is the limit, and South Jersey fans are lucky to watch his story unfold right now.
