Joseph Romans was a talented photographer and artist based in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
He operated Joseph Romans Photography, a creative studio located at 2415 Rosedale Avenue, Suite H, Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Known for his artistic eye and ability to capture striking images, Romans built a strong reputation in portrait, sports, and event photography.
A native of Florence, Alabama, he attended Central High School before studying at the University of North Alabama, where he further developed artistic and technical skills.
He is mainly known for his ability to capture the spirits of the athletes of North Alabama Athletics.
Joseph Romans Tragically Passed Away, Leaving Everyone Devastated
Joseph “Joe” Romans, who served as the photographer for North Alabama Athletics, sadly passed away in October 2025.
However, the cause of death has not been revealed by his family.
Lauderdale County Schools, Alabama, took to their official Facebook handle to announce the tragic death of Joseph. They wrote,
For all the hours spent taking pictures, thousands of smiles, and hundreds of words of encouragement to our students, employees, and communities, thank you, Joseph Romans. Thank you is not enough for all the unseen moments of support you provided to so many students without anyone asking, yet you and Mrs. Val have been filling in the gaps for so many years. We are forever thankful for your presence and support! A legend of the business, but a friend to us all!

Florence Falcons Athletics also took to Facebook to offer their heartfelt condolences. They wrote,
With heavy hearts, we are saddened by the passing of Joseph Romans. Joe was an incredible icon in the Falcon Community for his efforts in getting content to schools, teachers, students, and parents. At Florence Athletics, we truly could not do what we do at our level without Joe. Thank you Joe for the service you provided for our school. Your legacy will continue. To Valerie, thank you for sharing your husband with all of us at times. We are sending deep condolences to you and your family. On Friday, at our fooball game, we will dedicate our moment of silence to Joe for his service to the Falcon Community.

On Friday, Florence Falcons Athletics will dedicate a moment of silence to Joseph during their football game.
Megan Lovelace Dye, an associate athletic director for External Relations at the University of North Alabama, also mourned Joseph’s loss. He wrote,
If you knew Joseph Romans, you know weddings weren’t really his thing. But somehow I convinced him and Val to shoot my wedding, and oh how thankful I am that he said yes. He’d do whatever he could to get that perfect shot… and he was the master of lighting. He got in the Tennessee River on a 48 degree day because he was determind to get the perfect sunset shot for me… and man, did he get it! 🌅

He will always be remembered for his contributions as a photographer for the North Alabama Athletics and Florence Falcons Athletics.

Valerie is originally from Colbert Heights, Alabama, but lives in Tuscumbia, Alabama, United States.
Sadly, Joseph and Valerie’s married life ended after 29 years following the tragic death of Joseph.
Friends and relatives have poured their heartfelt condolences to Valerie to stay strong during this hard time.
