Linda Andrisani, one of the United States’ most well-respected hunter and equitation judges, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 17, 2025.
She was a cancer survivor, and the community of people in the horse world inspired her.
Linda Andrisani never looked back, even though dedicating her life to horses disappointed her mother.
Despite her mother’s disapproval, she went to work for Jack Stedding. Meanwhile, her father’s advice guided her through a remarkable career in the equestrian world.
Her love for horses began at nine when she took her first riding lesson in Maryland. She started riding as a weekly lesson but quickly became an obsession.
Later, she was at the barn four or five times a week within the first six months and won two blue ribbons at her first horse show, a county fair, which kept her hooked.
Her passion led her to become a young professional and co-found Monkton Manor Farm with Jack Stedding in 1980. They built a successful business developing top-quality horses and riders for over 25 years.
Moreover, Linda judged at major horse shows across North America and beyond, earning respect in the industry over nearly four decades. She last judged WIHS in 2022.
Her untimely passing saddened the whole horse community, and many remembered her in their heartfelt tribute.
The National Show Hunter Hall of Fame is deeply saddened by the news this morning that Linda Andrisani passed away peacefully in her sleep last night. We all know that she was an outstanding horsewoman and one of the best judges to ever grace a judges booth. We were also fortunate as exhibitors to have the honor of showing in front of her. You didn’t get away with much…well, actually, nothing. She set the standard for all of us to emulate. Linda was one of a kind…and of course, the right kind. She will be sorely missed.

She will be deeply missed, but her contributions to the sport ensure that her impact endures.
