A freshman guard for the North Carolina Tar Heels, Ian Jackson’s parents, Dwight Jackson and Latisha Simon, are over the moon with his recent achievement of earning a spot on the ACC All-Freshman Team.

On December 29, 2024, Ian Jackson scored 26 points in a win against Campbell, helping his team win 97-81. He also grabbed 5 rebounds and made 3 out of 8 three-point shots.

This strong performance earned him the ACC Rookie of the Week award and the National Freshman of the Week honor from the United States Basketball Writers Association and CBS Sports.

Likewise, Ian was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team on March 10, 2025, which means he was one of the five best freshmen in the ACC for the entire 2024-25 season.

He averaged 11.9 points per game and shot nearly 40% from three-point range for the season.

This award speaks volumes about how well he played in his first year of college basketball, and it’s clear his family back in The Bronx, New York, are bursting with pride.

Now that Ian has decided to enter the transfer portal after his freshman season, Dwight and Latisha are surely still supporting him, trusting his choices and cheering him on like they always have.

Ian Jackson Remains Low Key About His Parents!

Born on February 14, 2005, in Harlem, Ian Jackson grew up with six brothers.

His parents have always been there for him, supporting his love for basketball from the time he was a little kid dribbling a ball to becoming a star at North Carolina.

This season, Ian averaged 11.9 points per game and had eight games where he scored 20 points or more, including against strong teams like Alabama and UCLA.

His hard work paid off with this ACC honor, and it’s easy to imagine Dwight and Latisha cheering loudest of all.

Ian doesn’t talk about his parents in every interview, but there are moments when he hints at how much they mean to him.

All his social media posts focus on his game and career, with almost no details about his family.
