University of North Carolina head football coach Bill Belichick not only boasts an impressive football career but also takes pride in his three kids, who have all followed in his coaching footsteps.
Bill welcomed his three children with his ex-wife, Debby Clarke Belichick, from whom he divorced in 2006.
However, even after the split, his kids remained close to their father and continue to share a strong bond with him to this day.
In addition to being one of the most successful coaches, he has been a devoted father, constantly supporting and inspiring his children to pursue their dreams.
Witnessing their father excel in his coaching role greatly influenced his children, inspiring them to follow a similar path.
Bill Is Particularly Close With His Daughter, Amanda, Who Is the Head Coach of the Women’s Lacrosse Team at Holy Cross!
Bill Belichick has three kids: one daughter, Amanda Belichick, and two sons, Steve and Brian Belichick.
All of his children are currently building careers in coaching, a path the former NFL coach has stressed was their own decision and not shaped by his influence. He said:
They are in what they do because that is what they want to do, it is not my decision. I don’t try to guide them into it, I don’t try to guide them out of it. I try to help them the best I can like any father would try to do for his children.
Bill’s eldest, Amanda has especially been close with her father and was even present at the Super Bowl in 2017 to celebrate the victory with Bill.

Amanda began her coaching career as part of the lacrosse team at her alma mater before being named the head coach of the women’s lacrosse team at the College of the Holy Cross in 2015.
The father-daughter duo frequently exchange insights about their teams and the nuances of coaching.
Further, she has always publicly acknowledged the consistent presence of her father in her career both as a mentor and as a dad.
In 2017, Bill proudly walked Amanda down the aisle when she married her husband, AJ DeSantis.
His daughter gave him the wonderful gift of becoming a grandparent to her two children, whom he adores.
When the team announced Belichick as the UNC head coach, his daughter Amanda retweeted the post with heartfelt pride, writing, “Proud daughter day!”
She also shared a post on Instagram, expressing gratitude for her father’s mentorship and how observing him helped her become a better coach.
I learned a lot observing from the sidelines over the years watching my dad … Listen to your players and remember to create space to learn from each other, collaborate and understand each other. It’s always about the team.
Bill’s Two Sons, Steve and Brian, Are Both Coaches for the New England Patriots!
Bill’s older son, Steve, played lacrosse for four years at university and later joined the Patriot’s coaching staff in 2012 as a coaching assistant.
He got promoted to coaching the outside backliners in 2020. In talks with reporters, Steve said that his father has significantly inspired him, saying:
Obviously, I love my dad. He’s my role model. He’s my idol. I want to be just like him. I have since I knew what an idol was, It’s rewarding for me to, I guess, see him more and learn from him more, because I’ve been away from him in high school and college on a day-to-day basis.
Stevie married his wife, Jennifer, in 2017, and now he is a father to his four children.
Bill’s youngest son, Brian, also followed in his father’s footsteps and became a scouting assistant for the Patriots in 2016.
After three seasons as a coaching assistant, the team promoted him to safeties coach in 2020.
Brian married Catherine McLaughlin in 2021. With his marriage, all of Bill’s children are now married and have their own families.
Nonetheless, all of them continue to share a deep bond with their father, who has been both a loving dad and a guiding mentor throughout their careers.
