Recently, she announced her commitment to the University of Oklahoma on March 25, 2025.
She chose Oklahoma over top programs like Texas, Texas Tech, South Carolina, and UCLA.

Aaliyah Chavez Ownes Much Of Her Success To Her Parents!
Aaliyah was born to parents Sonny and Andrea Chavez on November 20, 2006, in Lubbock, Texas.
Sonny, her father, played high school basketball and now runs a basketball academy called “THE LAB CERTIFIED LLC,” where he trains aspiring athletes, including his children.
He has been instrumental in Alliyah’s development, serving as her trainer and mentor and helping her develop her skills from a young age.
He initially doubted Aaliyah’s interest in basketball when she first expressed interest at the age of eight.
However, he decided to train her rigorously when she expressed her passion for the sport.
His intensive workouts and guidance helped shape her into the exceptional player she is today.
