The University of Mississippi community is mourning the tragic loss of Wyatt Thistle, a former Ole Miss Rebels football player and alumnus, who passed away in a drowning accident in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on March 12, 2025.
Wyatt’s sudden and untimely death has left his family, friends, and the entire Ole Miss community heartbroken.
Thistle was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, where he lived in Alamo Heights.
He graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 2023, where he competed on the boys’ varsity football and men’s varsity basketball teams.
At 6 feet 1 inch tall, Wyatt was an athlete and a leader who inspired those around him to strive for greatness.
Wyatt’s influence reached far beyond the football field at the University of Mississippi.
As a student, he was involved in campus life and was admired for his work ethic and leadership skills.
He served as the Mississippi Alpha Recruitment Chair for the 2025 school year and was an active Ole Miss Interfraternity Council member.
