Meg Barnette, Brad Lander’s wife, was shocked and outraged by his recent arrest, calling the incident shocking and unacceptable.

Brad Lander is a New York City politician who currently serves as the city’s comptroller and is running for mayor in 2025.

Born on July 8, 1969, in University City, Missouri, he later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where he built his career in public service.

During his teenage years, Lander was actively involved in sports. He played soccer, baseball, and basketball in the Olivette Athletic Association.

He also worked as a referee and umpire, eventually becoming the head referee for youth games.

Recently, Lander was arrested by federal agents at an immigration court in Manhattan.

The incident unfolded when Lander was escorting an immigrant defendant out of the courthouse and questioned Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents about their authority to detain the individual.

ICE accused Lander of assaulting law enforcement and impeding a federal officer, leading to his detainment.

However, after several hours, he was released without formal charges, though the U.S. Attorney’s Office is still investigating his actions.

Brad Lander is married to Meg Barnette, and they live together in Brooklyn, New York.

The couple raised their two children, Marek Barnette and Rosa Lander, who both attended New York City public schools and later pursued higher education.

Meg is a nonprofit leader and advocate, best known for her work in human rights, social justice, and healthcare policy.

She has held key roles, including CEO of Nonprofit New York, Chief Strategy Officer at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, and a legal adviser at the Brennan Center for Justice.

She also served on the board of Women for Afghan Women for nearly a decade.

Currently, she works as a senior consultant for CFAR: Consulting and Coaching.

Regarding the recent case involving her husband, Brad Lander, who was arrested by ICE agents at an immigration court, Meg Barnette publicly denounced the incident.

She posted a video of the arrest on social media, showing Lander being confronted by ICE agents.

Moreover, she called it “shocking and unacceptable“, highlighting that Lander was standing up for immigrant rights, not breaking the law.

She also stated that the arrest raises serious concerns about government overreach.
