American Olympian Margherita Guzzi Vincenti, originally from Italy, comes from a family with a fencing tradition, including her great-great-uncle, who was an Olympic fencer.

Guzzi began her competitive fencing career in Italy, representing the Italian Junior National Team from 2005 to 2009.

Later in 2010, she moved to the United States after being recruited by Penn State University on a full fencing scholarship.

During her college years, she made a significant impact in the NCAA circuit.

As a freshman, she won the NCAA Fencing Championship in epee, establishing herself as one of the top collegiate fencers in the country.

Throughout her time at Penn State, she continued to refine her technique and gain experience in international competitions.

Margherita Guzzi Vincenti was born on September 12, 1990, in Milan, Italy.

While much detail about her parent is not disclosed, what is known is that she is the only child.

Moreover, not just Margherita, but all her family was into fencing. Fencing was a family tradition for her.

Her great-great-uncle, Franco Riccardi, was a legendary Italian fencer who won three Olympic gold medals and one silver between 1928 and 1936.

She began fencing at the age of seven after her father suggested she try the sport.

Margherita started her training at the Società del Giardino club in Milan, where she quickly developed a love for the sport.

Following her family tradition, Margherita has risen in the world of fencing and often credits her parents and family for her success.

During her time in the 2024 Summer Olympics, while representing Team USA, she credited her parents in the media, saying:

“It means everything, so to achieve what I have today and looking back at Margherita who came to the United States 12 years ago, I just can only be thankful to what my parents have done. They’ve always given me love and trust needed to go and excel.”

In addition to her family, Margherita credits her coach, Abbas Fadel, for his outstanding support and training during her time at Ataba Fencing Club in Hartland.
