Late Pat Summitt, the legendary women’s college basketball head coach who served 38 seasons with the University of Tennessee Lady Vols basketball, passed on her basketball skills to her only kid.

Tyler Summitt, the only kid of the late Pat Summitt, continues to keep her legacy in sports alive.

Pat Summitt, considered one of the greatest basketball coaches of all time, acquired 1,098 career wins, the most in college basketball history, at the time of her retirement in 2012.

In his senior year, Tyler earned the honors of Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Spartan Award as a point guard.

While pursuing his bachelor’s degree, Tyler was the head coach of Pat Summitt Camps, Cuonzo Martin Camps, and Bruce Pearl Camps from 2009 to 2011.

He also served as a head coach of Multiple AAU programs in Tennessee for over three years.

Pat Summitt’s Son, Tyler Summitt, Began His Professional Coaching Career in 2012!

With years of experience in basketball, Tyler Summitt began his professional coaching career with Marquette University in April 2012.

Moreover, he served as the assistant coach and offensive coordinator for Marquette’s Women’s basketball team for over two years before becoming the head coach of Louisiana Tech University.

In a statement from the school, Summitt expressed disappointment in himself and his appreciation for Louisiana Tech for allowing him to serve as a head coach.

“It is with great regret that I resign from my position as head coach of the women’s basketball program at Louisiana Tech University. I am profoundly disappointed in myself for engaging in a relationship that has negatively affected the people I love, respect and care about the most. My hope, plans and prayers are to repair those relationships. I am appreciative of the opportunity I was given to coach at Louisiana Tech. “

Tyler was having an extramarital affair with Louisiana Tech University women’s basketball team’s starting point guard Brooklyn Pumroy, now his wife.

In an interview with USA Today in 2021, Tyler stated, “We still feel the guilt, I think we really just try to keep praying for forgiveness.

Tyler, who married his high school sweetheart Anne Dennis on June 1, 2013, divorced in June 2017 following the scandal.

Moreover, Pat Summitt passed away on June 28, 2016, about two months after her son resigned from Louisiana Tech.

She suffered from early-onset Alzheimer’s disease since August 2011 and passed away two weeks after her 64th birthday at a senior living facility in Knoxville.

After the scandal, Tyler Summitt and former Louisiana Tech point guard Brooklyn Pumroy married in December 2018.

Tyler Summitt and Brookyln Pumroy are proud parents of three adorable kids, including two sons, Breck and Rocky Jordan, and a daughter named Patricia.

While living a happy life with his family, Tyler Summitt continues to run a non-profit organization, The Pat Summitt Foundation, which he and the late Pat established on November 11. The foundation researches and provides support for people who have Alzheimer’s.
