Early Life, Family & Education
Born on June 14, 1999, in Orlando, Florida, the 25 years old center for the 76ers Paul Reed aka BBall Paul, attended Wekiva High School in Apopka, Florida.
He is the son of mother Michelle Reed and father Paul Reed Sr., who played basketball at Old Dominion and UCF, then played professional basketball in Europe.
Reed grew up with his four sisters, Hazel, Danielle, Chantel, and Janelle. Born in a large family and that too in an African-American household, Reed’s childhood was considerably hard.
However, defying all the odds against him, Reed completed high school in 2016, averaging 18.2 points and 11.4 rebounds as a senior.

Because of his outstanding high school basketball, many universities, including Kansas State, Murray State, and Clemson, were interested in him and offered scholarships.
Nevertheless, Reed chose DePaul over others and, as a true freshman, averaged 3.6 points in 28 games played off the bench.
He received more playing time toward the end of the season.
After many ups and downs and struggles with injuries, he declared for the 2020 NBA Draft as a junior forgoing his final season of eligibility.
Career
Paul Reed was picked 58th overall in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.
He signed a two-way contract with the team in December of the same year. On January 4, 2021, Reed made his NBA debut playing the final 90 seconds of the game in a 118-101 win over the Hornets.
Since his contract required him to split time between the 76ers and its G-League affiliate, Delaware Blue Coats, he played the shortened single-site G-League season in 2021, garnering the MVP and Rookie of the Year Awards.

Nevertheless, on March 26, Philadelphia announced that Reed’s two-way contract had been converted to a standard NBA contract.
Talking about this season, Reed had not had the chance to prove himself because of limited playing time, but after the All-Star weekend, his time on the court has increased, and so is his score average.
The beginning of the season was fine because Joel Embiid sat out of games due to injury, and Reed had the chance to showcase his skills.
