Soccer and Volleyball player Carter Cunniff died in a tragic traffic collision in New Jersey.
Carter Cunniff, a senior libero for the Paul VI volleyball team, made a mark on the court with his strong defensive play.
In the 2024-2025 season, he played in two matches, recording 22 digs, an impressive average of 11 per match, and 1 kill and 4 service aces.
His standout performance came in a 2-0 win against the Camden Eastside, where he recorded 9 digs and 3 aces.
Over his high school career, Cunniff has totaled 136 digs, 15 serve points, and 5 aces.
Moreover, he was also a senior member of the Paul VI Boys Soccer team.

As per the reports, a Sewell resident, Carter Cunniff, who played volleyball and soccer at Paul VI High School, tragically passed away in April 2025, at 17, due to a traffic collision.
State troopers responded to the crash at 12:11 a.m. on Route 55 South.
According to the state police’s preliminary investigation, Carter was driving southbound when his Toyota Camry veered off the roadway to the left and hit a concrete overpass support and a tree.
The police have no additional information as the investigation is ongoing.
Closed ones and relatives took to Carter’s recent Instagram post’s comment section and mourned the tragic loss. One person wrote,

Carter Cunniff Is Survived By His Parents And Two Brothers
A Sewell resident, Carter Cunniff’s father, Mike, and mother, Diane Zalewski Cunniff, are devastated following the tragic death of their son.
According to Mike’s Facebook handle, he is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but lives in Washington Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey.
He is a former general manager of C.H. Robinson Company and is serving as the director of Logistics at Holt Logistics.
On the other hand, Carter’s mother has avoided social media, so little is known about her personal life.
Carter grew up with one elder brother, Colin Cunniff, and one younger brother whose identity has not been revealed.
Colin’s LinkedIn handle shows that he attended Paul VI High School and will graduate from Penn State University in 2027.
Colin is a member of Eclipse PSU, Penn State SCMA, and Penn State Finance Society. At this time, he is grieving the profound loss of his brother, Carter Cunniff.
