Love over rivalry...

For good reasons, James Franklin, the head coach of Penn State’s football team, is making waves in the sports world.

Under Franklin’s guidance, Penn State secured a commanding 31-14 victory over Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl, marking the program’s first-ever 13-win season and advancing deeper into the College Football Playoff.

This achievement solidifies Franklin’s reputation as one of college football’s premier coaches.

During the Fiesta Bowl, standout defensive end Abdul Carter suffered an injury, prompting Franklin to address the situation cautiously.

While further assessments are awaited, Franklin’s focus on player welfare remains evident.

Other than this, Franklin recently suggested for a commissioner in college football to manage the complexities of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals and the transfer portal.

In a bold suggestion, he nominated former Alabama coach Nick Saban as an ideal candidate for this hypothetical role.

These developments have put Franklin at the center of attention, further highlighting his influence on the sport.

A Sneak-Peek at James Franklin’s Coaching Career!

James Franklin began his coaching journey with a series of assistant roles, including stints at Maryland and Kansas State.

His big break came when he took over as the head coach at Vanderbilt University in 2011.

Franklin’s tenure at Vanderbilt was marked by unprecedented success, including back-to-back nine-win seasons and bowl victories, a rarity for the program.

In 2014, Franklin assumed the role of head coach at Penn State.

Over the years, he has revitalized the program, leading the Nittany Lions to multiple bowl victories and a Big Ten Championship in 2016.

His strategic acumen and ability to connect with players have made him a revered figure in college football.

James Franklin’s Wife, Fumi Is A Mother Of Two Daughter!

Beyond the football field, James Franklin leads a fulfilling personal life.

James and Fumi Franklin first met in 1998 during Franklin’s early coaching days at Washington State University.

During that time, he was coaching tight ends and pursuing his Master’s in Educational Leadership while Fumi was a graduate student.

Their connection deepened years later when they reconnected through a mutual friend in Maryland, eventually leading to a long-distance relationship.

The pair became engaged in 2005 in Green Bay, where Franklin was working at the time.

Fumi, originally from California, holds a Master’s degree in Education Administration.

She developed a strong devotion to Washington State Cougars football during her time at the university, even camping outside the stadium on game days to secure front-row seats.

Despite her passion for the Cougars, she has been a supportive and steady presence in James’ life and career.

Fumi’s love for Washington State football also adds a unique dynamic to their household, often leading to playful banter, especially when Penn State faces Washington.

Franklin testified,

“When we found out we were playing Washington in this game, she made it very clear to me: ‘Win this game or me and the kids are gone.’”

Her deep connection to her alma mater continues to be a cherished part of her identity.

Now a dedicated homemaker, Fumi focuses on managing their household and providing stability for their family.

The couple has two daughters, Shola, born in 2007, and Addison (Addy), born in 2008.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, James took significant precautions to protect Addy, who has sickle cell disease, by staying in an apartment over their garage to avoid potential exposure.

Franklin’s commitment to being a present and engaged father is evident, as he frequently shares stories about balancing his professional responsibilities with his role as a dad.

Whether it’s attending their events or enjoying family vacations, Franklin prioritizes creating meaningful memories with his daughters.
