Peoria, AZ – Centennial High School is at the center of a troubling investigation involving two of its teachers, including Haley Beck, a former student-athlete.
Principal Hollabaugh recently announced that both educators have been placed on administrative leave as the Peoria Police Department conducts separate investigations into allegations of inappropriate behavior with a student.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, the school has clarified that no arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed against either teacher at this time.
The school district highlighted its dedication to being open and working with law enforcement.
In a statement to parents and the community, Principal Hollabaugh said,
“If a staff member is arrested or charged with a crime, we will let our parents and community know immediately. We continue to cooperate fully with the Peoria Police Department.”

For now, details remain lacking, and the school has said it does not have additional information to share.
Haley Beck is a Former Athlete-Student at Centennial High School
A 2016 graduate of the school, Beck was a standout student-athlete, known for her skills as a midfielder on the girls’ varsity soccer team, where she wore the #14 jersey.
Her passion for soccer and her connection to the sport come from family roots as her father, Tim Beck, has coached boys’ soccer at Ironwood High School for over 27 years, and her siblings, Tatum and Noah, also played the sport, making it a family tradition.
After graduating from Centennial, Beck pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education with a major in Social Studies at Northern Arizona University.
During her time at NAU, she chose to return to her hometown for student teaching, chose Peoria over Flagstaff to save money, and stayed close to home.
It was during this period that Coyotes soccer coach Marc Shrake approached her with an opportunity to join the soccer program after graduation.
Beck took the chance, returning to Centennial not only as a teacher but also as a coach.
Since 2020, Beck has been a dedicated educator at Centennial High School, teaching World History, Psychology, and Sociology.
She also took on the role of assistant coach for the girls’ varsity soccer team, a position that allowed her to give back to the program that shaped her as a young athlete.
Her colleagues and students often describe her as incredibly passionate and dedicated.
In the coming years, she was expected to take over as head coach of the varsity squad when Coach Shrake steps down.
The School has been Quiet about the Details of the Investigations, Mentioning that they are Ongoing
According to a statement released to Telemundo Arizona, the district was informed by the Peoria Police Department about separate investigations involving Beck and Burlaka.
The allegations reportedly involve inappropriate behavior with a student, though no further details have been disclosed.
Angie Burlaka, the other teacher involved, teaches COOP and Child Development at Centennial.
Like Beck, she has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The school district has stressed that this is standard procedure for any employee matter under investigation.

The Peoria Police Department has confirmed that no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed against either teacher.
This lack of information has left the community with more questions than answers, as parents and students await further developments.
For many in the Centennial community, the news about Haley Beck is particularly shocking.
As a former Coyote, Beck was seen as a role model for her students and players.
Her return to Centennial as a teacher and coach was a point of pride for the school, with Coach Shrake stating her ties to the community.
As the investigations into Haley Beck and Angie Burlaka continue, the Centennial High School community is left in limbo.
For now, both teachers remain on administrative leave, and the district is focused on maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students.
The result of the investigations will likely have a powerful impact on the school’s reputation and the trust of the community.
