Phil McConkey is a former American football player best known for his time in the National Football League (NFL) as a wide receiver.

McConkey had an unconventional path to the NFL and completed his mandatory five years in the U.S. Navy as an officer and helicopter pilot.

The New York Giants signed him as a 27-year-old rookie, and he played two seasons with the team.

Furthermore, the wide receiver had stints with the Green Bay Packers, Phoenix Cardinals, and San Diego Chargers.

He is most famous for his time with the New York Giants, where he played a crucial role in their victory in Super Bowl XXI during the 1986 season.

May was born when Phil was 46 years old, and as of 2026, she is currently 23 years old.

She attended The Bishop’s School and is reportedly a midshipman at the United States Navy Academy.

In 2021, Phil and Erin experienced an emotional moment when they dropped off their only child at the waterfront campus known as The Yard in Annapolis, Maryland.

Phil even admitted that he cried during that moment.

Now, May is an inspiration for her father. Phil expressed,

“When I was growing up on the West Side, I dreamed of becoming a pilot and scoring a touchdown in the Super Bowl. Add those things together, and it still doesn’t come close to seeing my daughter in uniform at the Naval Academy.”

Phil McConkey’s Son: Ladd McConkey?

Ladd McConkey is not the son of Phil McConkey. He was born to parents Brittany and Benji McConkey in Chatsworth, Georgia.

His father, Benji, was a football quarterback at Dalton High School and was an All-State player for Georgia.

Furthermore, Ladd grew up with two siblings named Laine and Hinton McConkey.

The 24-year-old Ladd attended North Murray High School and played football as a quarterback, running back, defensive back, punter, and return specialist.

In his senior year, he led his school to a 9-1 record and the school’s first-ever region championship.

Rated as a three-star recruit, he committed to the University of Georgia on February 2, 2020.

Alongside playing football for the varsity team, he graduated with a degree in finance from the university.

Moreover, his jersey number, 15, was retired by North Murray on October 20, 2023.
