Many fans believe that the young football player Ladd McConkey is the son of Super Bowl champion Phil McConkey.
The confusion arises because they share the same surname, and they also play the same position, i.e., wide receiver.
To clarify the confusion, they are not related biologically, and Phil McConkey doesn’t have a son. Instead, he has a daughter named May.
Phil McConkey is a former American football player best known for his time in the National Football League (NFL) as a wide receiver.
McConkey had an unconventional path to the NFL and completed his mandatory five years in the U.S. Navy as an officer and helicopter pilot.
The New York Giants signed him as a 27-year-old rookie, and he played two seasons with the team.
Furthermore, the wide receiver had stints with the Green Bay Packers, Phoenix Cardinals, and San Diego Chargers.
He is most famous for his time with the New York Giants, where he played a crucial role in their victory in Super Bowl XXI during the 1986 season.
Does Phil McConkey Have A Son? Meet Daughter May
As mentioned earlier, Phil McConkey does not have a son; instead, he and his wife, Erin McConkey, have a daughter named May.
May was born when Phil was 46 years old, and as of 2024, she is currently 22 years old.
She attended The Bishop’s School and is reportedly a midshipman at the United States Navy Academy.
In 2021, Phil and Erin experienced an emotional moment when they dropped off their only child at the waterfront campus known as The Yard in Annapolis, Maryland.
Phil even admitted that he cried during that moment.
Now, May is an inspiration for her father. Phil expressed,
“When I was growing up on the West Side, I dreamed of becoming a pilot and scoring a touchdown in the Super Bowl. Add those things together, and it still doesn’t come close to seeing my daughter in uniform at the Naval Academy.”
