Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell gets his athleticism from his parents, Quentin Mitchell and Mashona Solomon, but the cornerback says it’s mostly from his dad. The couple weren’t the only contributors; Mitchell’s grandparents were also quite athletic.

Quentin and Mashona aren’t active on social media. But other members of the Mitchell family were quick to congratulate Quinyon after the Eagles defeated the Packers in the NFC wild-card round.

The rookie cornerback was the 22nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. So far, he has made 37 solo tackles and nine assists on tackles this season.

In the game against the Packers, the former Toledo player undercut the ball of Packers’ quarterback Jordan Love to snag it for Love’s third interception.

It marked Mitchell’s first NFL interception, and he celebrated the play by using former WWE Superstar Triple H’s finishing move, Pedigree, on his teammate Cooper DeJean.

The Eagles’ star quarterback Jalen Hurts said he would give the rookie a shoutout on his Instagram and added that the defense played a key role in their 22-10 win.

The Philadelphia Eagles will next play the winner of the Vikings and the Rams showdown. After the win against the Packers, the odds of the Eagles winning the Super Bowl have increased, but the Lions and the Chiefs remain the clear favorites.

Quinyon Mitchell Referred To His Mom As His Rock And Grandmom As His Best Friend!

Quinyon Mitchell’s mom, Mashona Solomon, had him when she was quite young.

He grew up in Williston, Florida, and was raised by his grandma, Marilyn Johnson, for the first nine years.

In his interview with The Athletic, Quinyon described his mom as his rock and his grandmom as his best friend.

During his pre-draft interview, Quinyon opened up to the media about his life in Williston, staying loyal to Toledo, and talked about his family, which seems full of athletes.

When one of the reporters complimented the youngster for his speed, the cornerback smiled and said he gets the good genes from his mom, dad, and, surprisingly, his grandma.

In The Athletic interview, Marilyn Johnson recalled childhood memories of the future NFL star.

Johnson said Quinyon loved running, and the two would race each other, with Quinyon always coming on top.

Quinyon, the football player, was built by the coaches, but Quinyon, the man, was built by his grandmother, Marilyn Johnson.

Marilyn had three rules for her grandson: Be honest, be respectful, and treat others the same way you’d want to be treated.

Johnson’s teaching made Quinyon stay at Toledo despite several colleges trying to coax him with NIL deals.

During his pre-draft interview, Quinyon mentioned his mother played basketball, which she probably had to drop out of after having kids.

Despite having children at a young age, Mashona Solomon returned to college to get her nursing degree.

Solomon graduated from the University of Central Florida and is now a registered nurse.

A young Quinyon had attended his mother’s commencement ceremony and cheered for her.

Mitchell says his mother’s journey has been a driving force for him, and now he witnesses his mother cheer for him.

Quinyon Mitchell’s Father, Quentin Mitchell, Made Him Love The Game!

The NFL player appeared for a quick interview in the Dad Can We Talk podcast in July 2024.

The video was recorded during the third Annual Skills Development Camp, and though Quinyon gave a solo interview, he mentioned with a show of his hands that his father was present with him at the camp.

Quentin Mitchell played running back at Troy University. He never made it as a professional player but later opened his organization, Williston Raiders, where he worked as a football head coach.

The organization was part of the Florida Youth Football and Cheer Conference. The idea to start the organization came after Quentin worried that Quinyon was too small to play football.

Quentin Mitchell, with his football coach, Keith Hardee, started the football program that relied on donations and connections.

They chose a vacant park and didn’t charge anyone who joined the league.

Previously, Quentin’s sister, Quintana Mitchell, shared a lengthy birthday post for her brother on her Facebook handle.

With a heartfelt caption, Quintana also attached a picture of Quentin’s Head Football Coach card in the post.

Quinyon’s grandfather earned the nickname Speed Buggy around Williston.

The cornerback shared that there are rumors around Williston that his grandfather ran a 100m sprint in 9.99 seconds.
