Linebacker Alex Highsmith and his wife, Alyssa, are college sweethearts. The couple loves traveling, and they had a European tour this off-season.
The two look settled in their married life and love living in Pittsburgh. In 2023, the linebacker signed a four-year $68 million deal.
The third-round pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, Highsmith’s career as a Steeler took off in 2022.
In his breakout season, he recorded five forced fumbles and recorded 14.5 sacks.
He followed it with seven sacks in 2023 and eight tackles for loss. Though the numbers dipped, Highsmith believed 2023 was a much better season for him.
In 2024, Highsmith has played nine games and has recorded six sacks and nine tackles for loss.
Before making it big in the NFL, Highsmith played four years of college football at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
He made the first-team All-Conference USA in his junior season, setting a school record of 17.5 tackles for loss.
He followed that accomplishment in his senior year and set a new school record with 14 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss.

Alyssa 25 was born to parents Donald Thomas Ungrady and Ann Ungrady on October 20, 1999. She grew up in California with two brothers and a sister.
Her dad, Donald Thomas Ungrady, is an Electric Construction Supervisor at Sempra Energy, and her mom, Ann Ungrady, is an Independent Beachbody Coach.
Before enrolling at UNC Charlotte, Alyssa was a cross-country athlete for Great Oak High School.
She helped her team win four CIF SS Championships and four Southwestern League Championships while earning All-State honors.
At UNC Charlotte, Alyssa began her freshman year by competing in outdoor events, including 1500 m and 3000 m races.
She finished with a personal best time of 4:50.93 in 1500 m at the 49er Classic.
In her sophomore year, Alyssa competed in the 3000 m indoor event at the Carolina Challenge and set a time of 5:17.42.
She also completed four outdoor events and placed second in the 3000 m steeplechase at the East Carolina University Bill Carson Invitational.
Junior year happened to be Alyssa’s final year as an athlete. She placed 35th at the Conference Championship and ran a personal best record 5k time of 18:36.0.
Alyssa graduated from UNC Charlotte with a nursing degree and works as an OR Nurse.
