Power Catholic High School Soccer Enthusiast Mya Hoberg Dies Untimely At 22 Leaving Her Parents Heartbroken!

A freshman at Power Catholic High School, Mya Hoberg, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2025. However, the prime reason behind her untimely passing remains unknown.

The Flint, Michigan, community and Powers Catholic High School are enveloped in grief following the tragic passing of Mya Hoberg.

Mya is survived by her parents, siblings, grandparents, and extended family.

The circumstances of Mya’s passing have left her community in shock, and details remain private as her family navigates this loss.

Jennifer Crumm Wilkins, the mother of Mya’s friend, set up a GoFundMe campaign to offer financial assistance and support for her family’s unforeseen costs.

The GoFundMe description reads:

Today, the world lost a beautiful, bright light. Mya Hoberg was a beauty; inside and out. She lit up every room with a bright smile and an infectious laugh but was a force to be reckoned with on the sports fields and courts. She had a love for all sports, most recently soccer. She was called up to the varsity team because of that drive.

So far, more than $10,000 has been raised from 119 donations, moving closer to the $14,000 goal.

Jennifer even updated her Facebook profile and cover picture featuring her daughter and Mya Hoberg.

While her family remains low-key grieving the loss in private, they have expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and support pouring in from the community.

Mya Hoberg Was A Soccer Enthusiast At Power Catholic High School!

Mya Hoberg was an exceptional freshman at Powers Catholic High School who was part of the Class of 2028 and set to graduate in that year. She played for both the JV and Varsity soccer teams.

During her time at Powers Catholic, Mya excelled academically and socially. She was very active at school, participating in class discussions.

Mya’s coach with the username pcatsgirlsoccer on Instagram wrote a lengthy eulogy, which reads:

She was sweet, fun and loved by both teams and will be missed so much. On behalf of the Powers Soccer family, our condolences go out to Mya’s family and friends.

He added, “The remainder of our season will be dedicated to remembering and celebrating Mya as we deal with this tremendous loss.

Likewise, Mya Hoberg’s friend, Danny Raji Zaher, shared two Instagram posts in her memory. In the first post, he expressed his sorrow over the loss of Mya.

As they grieve this heartbreaking loss, Danny found comfort in a passage from Revelation 21:4, which speaks of an end to pain and mourning. He wrote:

As we mourn this tremendous loss, we find solace in the words of Revelation 21:4: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Similarly, in the second post, Danny shared a brief video expressing his grief at her unexpected loss.

Mya played with passion and always supported her teammates. She also enjoyed the arts and helped with school clubs and events, bringing her happy energy to everything she did.

Teachers recall her as thoughtful and engaged, always eager to learn and quick to offer a helping hand to classmates.

Mya’s friends saw her as a bright and cheerful person who could make anyone’s day better with a joke, a kind word, or her warm smile.

She loved art and found ways to express herself creatively. She also cared about helping others and was active in school clubs and volunteer work.

Whether she was supporting her team, taking part in a school event, or helping a good cause, Mya always did things with happiness and honesty.
