A 15-year-old sophomore at Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dylan Straughn, suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident on October 4, 2025.

The accident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Old Colerain Road and Dunlap Road.

Dylan was riding a bicycle when a vehicle struck him. On top of that, the driver left the scene without stopping.

Police found Dylan after the crash and took him to a hospital. Meanwhile, he is in the ICU with life-threatening injuries.

Reportedly, doctors identified him using the SIM card from his phone, as his condition made other forms of identification difficult.

One report states that there is a thin chance he might survive.

Robert Stanley, his uncle, revealed that he suffered fatal brain bleeding. A machine is now supporting his vital functions.

A prayer service was planned for the evening of October 5, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Holy Family Chapel at Moeller High School.

Steven Murphy expressed his anger toward the driver who hit Dylan and left him on the road like nothing had happened.

He called the driver a coward and said that failing to call for help worsened the outcome, writing:

To the person who hit that kid on old colerain rd with their car last night and left him Like he was garbage on the side of the road I think yu need to kno that the ICU Dr’s could only ID him thru the SIM card on his phone.

Meanwhile, police are asking for any information about the hit-and-run. They are seeking details from witnesses or individuals with cameras in the area to come forward.

Moeller High School took to their social media, urging everyone to join them in prayers, writing:

We ask our Moeller Family and the community to join us in praying for Moeller sophomore Dylan Straughn ‘28 who was critically injured in an accident. Dylan is hospitalized at this time and in dire need of our prayers.

During this difficult time, we pray for Dylan’s speedy recovery and the strength of his family.
