Remembering Coach Jerry Bethell, A Godly Man, Devoted Father, and Lifelong Mentor!

Throughout his career, Coach Bethell was more than just a coach; he was a mentor, teacher, and role model.

He dedicated his life to guiding young athletes and students, leaving a lasting impact on the Cameron Yoemen community and beyond.

He led the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF), taught at LHS, and was remembered as a man of integrity and faith.

His accolades were not only in victories on the field but in the lives he shaped through discipline, encouragement, and example.

Beyond his professional life, he was a devoted family man, raising Michelle and Craig Bethell with value and his legacy continues through them.

Coach Jerry’s passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, former students, and the wider Cameron community.

His nearest ones have spoken with heartfelt emotion about the loss.

A former student recalled a cherished memory from the late 1980s, when Coach Bethell walked in on a loud Hall & Oates song and, with quiet humor, left behind a moment that became unforgettable.

That student described him as a lifetime mentor, a good father, and a true friend, offering condolences to Michelle and Craig while lamenting not being able to attend the service.

Other colleagues and community members quoted similar sentiments, calling him a great example to high school students, a favorite teacher, and a treasured coaching colleague.

As shared by his daughter, Michelle Bethell Bennett, Coach Jerry Bethell’s celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2026, and the visitation will begin at 1:00 PM.

Likewise, the funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at First Methodist Church in Cameron.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Coach Jerry Bethell’s family, friends, and well-wishers.

Rest In Peace, Coach.
