This article was last updated by on

Precious Achiuwa is the son of Nigerian parents of Igbo descent. He plays power forward for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Achiuwa played collegiate basketball for the Memphis Tigers at the University of Memphis.

The 24 years old is in his third year in the NBA and has already found his preferred pace. He does not let the game speed him up and is more in control.

When he makes his way to the basket, there are only a few in the league who can stop him from getting where he wants to go.

He is currently one of the cores of the Raptors. Even though he ended his 2021-22 season on a high note, he struggled tremendously to begin 2022-23 before missing 24 games because of an ankle injury.

Upon his return, he steadily improved his gameplay and proved instrumental in winning games, not just on a single occasion.

After high school, Precious committed to play collegiate basketball for the Memphis Tigers at the University of Memphis under head coach Penny Hardaway.

While with the Tigers, he was named the Freshman of the Year and AAC Player after the regular season.

After his remarkable freshman season, Achiuwa declared for the 2020 NBA Draft.

Career

As anticipated by the scouts and recruits, he was drafted 20th overall in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat.

In November same year, he signed a four-year rookie contract with the team.

However, after a season with the Heat, Achiuwa was acquired by the Raptors via a sign-and-trade deal in exchange for point guard Kyle Lowry.

Achiuwa made his season debut for the Raptors on October 20, 2021, and recorded six points, two assists, and seven rebounds in 19 minutes of the play against the Washington Wizards.

Even though he suffered a minor setback during the season start, he has improved his gameplay and proved to be one of the core members of the Raptors roster.

He is shooting 57% from the field and 40% from three-point range.

Achiuwa had the only flaw of playing with too much energy, but now it seems like he has changed his way of playing.

Awards & Achievements

The Toronto Raptors’ power forward, Precious Achiuwa, has achieved much quicker. It’s been just three seasons since he began his NBA journey, but his list of accomplishments is no less than any veteran.

Net Worth & Contracts

While several sources on the internet have claimed Precious Achiuwa’s net worth to be $6 million, it seems far from true.

To elaborate, the man is in his third NBA season and has not scored any major long-term deal with the team.

After his rookie contract, he might hit the jackpot given his stellar performance this season, but claiming his net worth to be $6 million seems vague without any credible sources for now.

But if we were to look from his endorsement deals standpoint, this might make a little sense.

Since none of the parties have revealed the actual financial arrangements, it is still unsure how much this deal contributes to his wealth.
