Roki Sasaki, a standout reliever, was raised in a close-knit family with his parents, Kota and Yoko, in Rikuzentakata, Japan, alongside his two brothers.

He is a young Japanese baseball pitcher known for his blazing fastball and record-breaking performances.

Born in 2001 in Rikuzentakata, Japan, Sasaki became famous in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for throwing a perfect game and setting strikeout records.

Nicknamed “The Monster of the Reiwa Era,” he moved to the U.S. in 2025 to play for the Dodgers.

Roki Sasaki recently made a strong MLB debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He earned three saves and two holds in the 2025 postseason, while maintaining an impressive ERA under 1.50 across multiple playoff games.

With His Parents’ Support From Childhood, Roki Sasaki Became A Record-Breaking Baseball Pitcher!

Roki Sasaki was born on November 3, 2001, to parents Kota and Yoko Sasaki as a middle child.

He was raised alongside his two brothers, Ryuki and Reiki Rikuzentakata, in Japan.

Roki Sasaki’s father, Kota Sasaki, was a passionate baseball enthusiast who played a vital role in nurturing Roki’s early love for the sport.

He regularly practiced with Roki and his older brother, encouraging their development and discipline.

Kota lived with his family in Rikuzentakata, a scenic coastal city in Japan’s Iwate Prefecture.

Tragically, in March 2011, Kota and Roki’s grandparents were killed in the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.

Roki was just nine years old at the time. The loss of his father deeply impacted him, but it also became a turning point that shaped his career.

After Kota’s death, Roki’s mother, Yoko Sasaki, became the backbone of the family, raising Roki and his two brothers as a single parent.

Though her profession is not publicly detailed, she worked hard to provide stability and encouragement for her sons.

She relocated the family to Ofunato, a nearby town, where Roki continued his schooling and baseball training.

Yoko rarely appears in public but remains deeply proud of Roki’s accomplishments.

Her emotional support and sacrifices were instrumental in helping Roki pursue his dream, from local baseball clubs to professional leagues in Japan and eventually to the MLB with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
