Professional Women’s Wrestler Iyo Sky Remains Tight-Lipped About Her Marriage With Wrestling Star Takaaki Watanabe

Masami Odate, a Japanese professional wrestler known by her stage name Iyo Sky, has captured the attention of fans not only for winning the WWE Women’s World Championship but also for her personal life.

Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky had an extremely awaited match on Monday Night Raw on March 3rd in Buffalo.

Before this match, Ripley had never defeated Sky in a one-on-one bout. That record stayed intact.

However, things took a turn when Ripley got distracted by Belair at ringside.

Ripley taunted Belair, saying she would face her at WrestleMania.

But that moment of distraction allowed Sky to reverse Ripley from the top rope, hit a perfect moonsault, and score the pin to win the title.

Iyo Sky Has Maintained A Low Profile Regarding Her Relationship Status

Iyo Sky was once engaged to Takaaki Watanabe, a professional wrestler widely recognized by his ring name, Evil.

However, the couple has not publicly shared whether they are still together or have plans for a wedding.

Iyo keeps her personal life private, with her social media mainly focused on her professional career.

At the same time, Takaaki Watanabe remains active on Twitter but has not publicly confirmed whether he is in a relationship with her.

Occasionally, a fan page posts a picture of her with a playful caption, “Am looking for my husband?

In the comments, fans often reply, “You already have a husband; that’s Takaaki Watanabe,” or “Ask your boyfriend Takaaki Watanabe.”

It is believed that they first crossed paths through their shared involvement in professional wrestling, eventually starting their relationship while they were both in Japan.

He made his NJPW debut in 2011, later spending time on excursions in the U.S.

Between 2014 and 2015, he gained experience working with promotions like Global Force Wrestling (GFW) and Ring of Honor (ROH).

Throughout his career, Watanabe has claimed several prestigious championships, including the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, the IWGP Intercontinental Championship, and the IWGP Tag Team Championship.

Iyo Sky Once Separated From Her Former Boyfriend Nosawa After A Controversial Incident

Before her relationship with Takaaki Watanabe, she was reportedly involved with Kazushige Nosawa, a fellow professional wrestler.

The couple lived together in the Koto ward of Tokyo, Japan.

After returning from Mexico on May 23, 2012, Iyo and Nosawa were detained at Narita International Airport in Chiba.

They were suspected of attempting to smuggle 75 grams of marijuana concealed within paintings.

Both denied the allegations, stating that the paintings were gifts from fans.

Odate was released from custody on June 12. On June 21, she held a public press conference, where she apologized to her supporters, employers, and fellow wrestlers while denying any wrongdoing.

Additionally, she revealed that she and Nosawa had ended their relationship.

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • Iyo Sky debuted in March 2007 and spent years as a tag team wrestler with her sister Mio in various promotions in Japan and Mexico.
  • She won Stardom’s biggest title, the World of Stardom Championship, and held it twice, each time for over a year, in April 2013.
  • Odate stated she hasn’t considered retirement and wants to regain the trust of her peers and fans while also revealing her breakup with Nosawa.
