Quentin Grimes was born on May 8, 2000, in Houston, Texas, United States, to his father Marshall Grimes, and mother, Tonja Stelly.

Grimes has an older maternal half-brother named Tyler Myers, who plays professional ice hockey as a defenseman for the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks.

However, the two brothers have never lived together because of Tyler’s move to Canada for his professional career along with his father. But it is known that the two brothers are the first pair to play in the NBA and NHL.

Quentin Grimes graduated high school in 2018 from The Woodlands College Park in Texas.

He played exceptionally well throughout high school, and just before entering college, Grimes was projected as a top-five pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

He committed to playing collegiate basketball at the University of Kansas on November 15, 2017.

Grimes declared to enter the 2019 NBA Draft as a sophomore at Kansas but pulled out before the deadline and decided to transfer to Houston.

He again announced that he would declare for the 2021 NBA Draft on April 9, forgoing his remaining college eligibility.

Career

Quentin Grimes was drafted 25th overall in the 1st round of the 2021 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers but was traded to the New York Knicks.

Knicks announced that they had signed Grimes on August 6, 2021.

In his debut game against the Milwaukee Bucks, he scored 27 points and made seven three-pointers.

He also joined the Knicks’ 2022 NBA Summer League roster.
