Rae Carruth, a former NFL wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers, has recently sparked curiosity about his whereabouts following his release from prison.
Once known for his exceptional football skills, Rae Carruth now leads a quiet and anonymous life away from the public’s eyes after his sinful actions in 1999.
Furthermore, the former NFL player spent nearly two decades behind bars after the jury found him guilty of conspiracy to commit homicide, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and using an instrument to destroy an unborn child.

He planned the homicide of his girlfriend, Cherica Adams, on November 16, 1999, who was 8 months pregnant with their son.
Cherica Adams was sh*t four times using a firearm by Van Brett Watkins Sr., Rae’s hitman. However, she managed to call 911, and the police immediately took her to the hospital.
Unfortunately, Cherica fell into a coma and passed away nearly four weeks after the incident.
Doctors delivered her baby, Chancellor Lee Adams, via emergency cesarean section, but he suffered permanent brain damage and cerebral palsy.
It was later revealed that Carruth hired Watkins and others to k*ll Cherica because she refused to abort their unborn child.
The court released Rae Carruth on October 22, 2018, after serving 18 years, and he immediately moved to Pennsylvania after his release. Since then, very little information about his life has been available.
Report States Rae Carruth Now Lives in the Southwestern United States!
According to The Charlotte Observer, Rae Carruth now lives with his wife in the Southwestern United States.
Moreover, he uses an entirely different name and prefers to remain contactless and anonymous.
When reporter Scott Fowler back in 2024 located Rae and wanted to make contact, he refused to give an interview, stating:
“Respectfully, I no longer want to discuss anything that has to do with what happened on Nov. 16, 1999. It’s never going to turn out good for me, so I decline. And I’m well aware that with or without me, a story is going to be written soon, with the 25th anniversary right around the corner. But I genuinely want no part of it.”
Similarly, shortly after his release from prison, Scott Fowler was able to talk to Rae face-to-face in Pennsylvania.
Initially, Carruth didn’t let him record the conversation and told Scott that he had become a Muslim and a pescatarian during his time behind bars.

Carruth also wore a bracelet given to him by his mother, which showed the dates of his imprisonment on one side- Dec. 15, 1999, to Oct. 22, 2018, and the words “Never Forget” on the other side.
When asked what the bracelet meant to him, he replied that it reminded him not to take his freedom for granted.
Later that year, Carruth texted Scott a picture of himself grinning after he got a driver’s license for the first time in 20 years.
However, the former NFL star changed his email address and phone number and fell out of touch.
Later, some people stated they saw him working in Pennsylvania, while others stated he was in California, where he is originally from.
It’s unclear where the former NFL star lives now; Rae seems to be rebuilding his life quietly.
Regarding his son, Chancellor Lee Adams survived the horrible incident and is thriving in his life and education.
Chancellor, who turned 25 on November 16, 2024, graduated from high school in Charlotte in 2021 and lives a happy life with his maternal grandmother, Saundra Adams.
