Raheem Sterling brother, Kingston Sterling, was touted to be the next Lionel Messi by his family. Raheem and Kingston have an age gap of 13 years.
The England international, Raheem Sterling, had seen it all. He lost his father, Phillip, when he was two. He moved with his family to a new country at age five, and by the time he was a teenager, he was helping his family with the finances.
There was a time when the Chelsea star Raheem Sterling would clean toilets with his mom, Nadine Clarke. His sister, Lakima, would travel with him in his training.
The former Liverpool player also has a younger brother and a younger sister who remain away from the limelight.
Since his move to Chelsea, Sterling hasn’t shown the blistering form he used to have at City alongside Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne. With those two players, he won four Premier League titles.
The former Liverpool player would want to repeat the same feat at Chelsea. With the new signings taking their time to settle, Sterling and Co. will hope the next season will bring more joy than pain.
Raheem Sterling Brother: Kingston Sterling
Raheem Sterling’s brother, Kingston Sterling, shares an age gap of double digits with his famous older brother. During an interview with the UK tabloid, The Times in 2014 was the last time Kingston’s name was mentioned in the media.
At the time, Raheem Sterling was the new, young, rising star of Liverpool F.C. Under Brendan Rodgers, the Jamiaca-born footballer shined alongside Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
That year he even got a call-up from England’s boss Roy Hodgson to join him and the Three Lions in their quest for World Cup glory. In that interview, Raheem’s sister, Lakima, gave a few details about Kingston.
At the time six, Kingston was said by his sister to be the next football prodigy. She said he was already better than Raheem and could one day possibly reach the likes of Lionel Messi.
Raheem Sterling Sisters: Lakima And Kimberly Sterling
The older sister of Raheem Sterling, Lakima Sterling, made many sacrifices for her younger brother.
Lakima Sterling, also called Kima-Lee Sterling, was no less than a mother to the England superstar. Lakima is Raheem’s step-sister, but that never changed their dynamic.
Raheem would have to take three buses to attend his football training. Afraid that her son would get into trouble, Raheem’s mom, Nadine, would send Lakima with him.
Lakima would then wait around the clock for her little brother to finish training, and then the sibling duo would return together.
For all the sacrifices Lakima made in her younger days for her brother, Raheem paid a small bit of it by buying her a house in London.
In 2018, the England international took to his Instagram to share a video of him surprising his older sister with a new house.
Last year as a tribute to his sister, Sterling also dedicated his new football boot collection with New Balance to her.
Lakima is available on Instagram with the username @kymiah_mae, and on her Instagram bio, she has a link to a hair and beauty page, Lounge 31HB, which is likely to be the salon she runs.
His younger sister, Kimberly Sterling, who is six years younger than him, rarely makes any public appearances and isn’t seen much on his Instagram handle.
Raheem Sterling Parents: Nadine And Phillip
Raheem Sterling was born to parents Nadine and Phillip Slater in Jamaica.
His father, Phillip Slater, was a huge football fan and played the sport during his free time. He was shot dead in Kingston, Jamaica, after being involved in a gang turf war.
Raheem was only two when his father passed away. Then with her kids, Nadine Clarke came to England and began a new life.
In England, she worked hard to put food on the table and help her children attend good schools. In 2016, Raheem bought his mom a £2.5 million home as a gift for all she had done for him over the years.
Before that, the Sterling family lived in a modest London home near the railway tracks. It was reported in 2018 that Nadine kept hold of the property despite owning a multimillion-dollar home.
